DESCRIPTION

PLEASE VISIT TWISTEDTOOLS.COM FOR MORE NEW INSTRUMENTS!

version 1.8 (07.11.2008)

Whats new:
-a new advanced midi learn feature for the parameter cells.
-a new colour palettes to please the most delicate eyes.
-some fixes and engine improvements here and there.
(look inside the ens.for more detailed information)

Flakes is a flexible granular sampler designed specially to transform and renovate existing samples into something new and fresh. It was mainly designed to work with voices and atmospheric material, but thanks to its wide sound sculpting possibilities you can come up with interesting results using any kind of sources. This instrument combines manual interaction and pre-made sequenced style of work, so for example you can scan thru the wave using your controller and play some notes on your keyboard while the scenes are controlled by prepared sequence. Moreover it's really CPU light so feel free to rock live on a stage.

Concept:
Four colours represent four so called "scenes". Each scene has its own settings for different sampler's parameters. For each parameter there is its own cell, these cells have 8 sliders, 4 sliders for the first (main) parameter and 4 for the second (usually it is jitter) respectively. Scenes order and readout process is controlled by the special sequencer. Sequencer's velocity can be routed to control the sampler's volume and release time.

Use hints. Keep clock running.

Enjoy, yours truly,

Loading a sample and getting some audio: go to edit mode with F1, then right click the folder icon (in windows 10 at least), then choose Replace sample, then press spacebar to play it back through the instrument. MIDI keyboard doesn't work.

For those asking to load samples, there is an icon in the top right corner which allows you to load/replace.

Said at least 8 years ago, and loved with no CPU complaints by many even longer ago: "Moreover it's really CPU light so feel free to rock live on a stage." In 2017, with a 2-year-old iMac, his thing won't play for more than a split second without going into overs and then shutting itself down with an overload warning. So what's broken here?

thanx guys! Richard, its easy :) for example 96/6 = 16, so it'll be 1/16 division (i hope you know that 1/16 is a standart clock division wich has equal relation to the global BPM), so 96/16 = 1/6; 96/12 = 1/8; 96/8 = 1/12 etc. respectively. hope it'll help.

thanks sonic! check out my track called "the slasher's theme" on www.myspace.com/richardgrinfigone , i have used flakes to make the swingin 5/4! i have a little question though about your time signature >/< thing. can you explain how it works a little more in a musical description like 2/4 4/4 5/4 5/8 6/4 6/8 etc? thanks. i am sorry to be a pain, and possibly this is something i should have learned long ago. I ALWAYS RATE YOU 10!

cool. thanks by the way again. i used version 1.4 to make a very cool 5/4 beat for a track that is going to be a part of my senior recital next week!
Igor Shilov

repacked. the main addition is the "pitch/speed" modes, wich alter the sounds differently, as for me pitch mode sounds more good with beats, while speed is more gentle with pads and atmospheres.

version 1.3 : 2 bryant and all MAC users: now you can use small bl=br button, wich allows you to control second (ctrl + left mouse button) parameters using left mouse.

thanx! ok, version 1.2... gui fixes here and there. if you don't like current colour palette, now you can easily change it: just change constants inside the FARBEN macros and restart CPU, that's all!

Awesome patch, the GUI is pleasant - but it is hard to control ! Choosing the colors, and right-click make this a job to explore !

2 don dailey: if you mean randomizers to parameters - double click on a controller (but i think you already know this) 2 richard: well, default setting for grain cloud modele is a separate and quite interesting question, the main problem is that this module is quite special itself, and it's really hard to make sample soundsing "default". i'll see what can be done. thank you for your comments, they are really helpful.

okay, for some reason it is omitting the zero between 56 and 93 in the url when I paste it. I'm referring to your post in the Reaktor forum. I'm the guy asking about colors.

i think it could be cool if there were a default button... but that's all right. the defaults on the snapshot window don't really work out... overall i think this is a great ensemble/instrument
Don Dailey

wonderful! (I think there was referrence to the fact that it was saved with all the structure windows open ;-) It would be cool to have randomizers for some or all parameters.
