DESCRIPTION

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, I know, drum machine?!? - BORING!
Well, if you don\'t like it, go home...

I started attempting to find / build replica structures for the analog circuits in my 909, and ended up here. While the sound-generation part of the instrument is cool, the stuff Im really psyched about is in the sequencer. Note that it\'s an 11-channel sequencer - but the instrument is monophonic (check some other table-based drum-machines to see why this is a big deal for me). Also note that the patterns are all stored as snapshots - using \"snapvalue\" modules for every single cell in the table! While this may sound like a nightmare, it actually works great and wasnt all that bad to build.

- The drum sounds can be played with incoming midi notes - so it can be used just as a sound module. You can also sample sounds by just hitting notes on you keyboard (z is the kick drum, and it goes up from there).

- Theres about 20 percussive samples in the instrument - some from the 909 and the 808, some from computer games.

- All of the analog sections of the 909 have been replicated - but some, like the Toms, give you the option to play samples instead. All this stuff makes it a bit of a pig CPU-wise. Sorry. You can turn the effects off or lower the sample rate if its a problem for you.

- Enjoy,
CList

p.s.
We could use more negative comments (not just negative votes) around this user lib. - otherwise builders will never know what users want, and non-builders will never get what they want, so don't be shy.

For some reason, it's changing patterns once I turn the effects on. Is this normal?

I get it to "save", but it saves NOT what I made and in 8 steps only, otherwise it is a GREAT DRUM MACHINE... Thanx for sharing...

A simple to understand modern remix of a classic 909. some greeat sounds already oaded, but I've had such fun playing with some of my own samples in it. A nice and intuitive way to make rhythms fast. Well done

Well, mate - if someone writes "if you don't like it, go home" - and then complains about missing negative criticism to learn from, then there's a slight error going on... manymany like this and 909 and 808 and 303, the others just went for a walk, or home, maybe.......

just downloaded all the interesting drum machines I could find and yours was the easiest to get up and using, great fun to use. if you need criticism only comment I would say is in an ideal world you'd be able to manipulate the kik and snare more. love it thanks !

Spent a few hours trying to work out its mysteries. Much potential in this device. Some documentation would really be appreciated! Mike Rapkin

CPU usage was fine. Now I need to get to grips with it. WishI could design something as impressive - perhaps in a few years!

Alex: Don't you need some sort of tool to open PC Reaktors files on Mac? Sorry but I have no idea, I think there must be other Mac users who had no problem. Sorry I can't help more.

Well, it turns out I had more than a few midi out ports enabled on my Unitor8. If I turn them all off(in midi settings), the ensemble runs fine at 18%, 44k, and I can switch patterns and use the panel elements fine. As soon as I enable more than 6 ports, the utilization flips out. Excellent work BTW!!!!!

I get nothing but overloads on my Athlon 2200(1.8ghz) even after lowering sample rate to 11k. Panel use causes immediate overload, but if you wait long enough it still happens. Disabling effects doesn't matter. However, after deleting the Sequencer, usage stays right around 20% with all effects. I have saved the instrument as an ism for vst sequencing. Also, the stuttering disappears when you remove the sequencer. I wonder why a sequencer would eat my remaining 75%? Win2000, R4...005, Layla wdm drivers.

these drum synth structures are awesome. you seem like you are inviting critcism for it. but its really hard to actually cause you nailed it. i'd personally like to see ahr envelopes being used on the cymbals. easily remedied and it wouldnt clog up the interface. and a stereo tape delay would be cool too.

Way impressed. This thing is retro-funky-cool. Great work. The Sequencer module is quite fun and a breeze to use. The visual representation of velocity per note is a great addition as well.

Just another drum machine? I think not! Fantastic sequencer and sound!

I don't get a processor overload (or even a CPU spike) when I hit a Switch (not a button), but I do get a stuttering in the sound. That's why the only switches are on the effects - so you decide at the beginning if you want them on or off. I can't figure out why the stuttering happens, but I think it's because there's so many modules in the sequencer for the pattern storage. Reaktor re-fires all panel controls _and_ all constant values whenever a Switch is pressed (but not a button) - and does it *for all instruments in the ensemble* - not just the one where the switch is. This is a bit of a drag, but there's no way around it for me. I'm thinking of either releasing a simplified version - with only a 32-step sequencer, or waiting until the next R4 update and see if they've got "save-table-with-snapshot" or have done some more optimization on some of these things to correct the problem. There's over 900 modules used in the sequencer ***just to store the pattern with the snapshot***! I did it this way - instead of in a table, the way it's done in the SamplerPack - because when you do it the table way. all of your snapshots get screwed up when you do an "Insert" type of snapshot save or "delete" a snapshot in the middle of the list. This way works great, but uses a lot of modules which causes that switch-stuttering to happen. - CL

this is a great one! compact and powerful! but does anybody else experience a cpu overload when pressing a button (switch)(cannot be - on my machine only 30% are used)
