TRAKTOR LE RELATED FAQ

1. I own a TRAKTOR LE version that I received through purchasing a Native Instruments audio interface or the TRAKTOR KONTROL X1 controller. Is it possible for me to update to TRAKTOR LE 2?

Yes, actually even better: the update is entirely free if you obtained your copy of TRAKTOR LE with any Native Instruments product in 2011 (the date of registration is important, not the actual purchasing date). ). Info concerning the free update will be sent automatically to your NI user account email address in summer 2011. No action on your part is required to obtain the update.

2. I own a TRAKTOR LE version or a TRAKTOR LE Manufacturer Edition that I received via purchasing a DJ controller from another manufacturer. Can I upgrade to TRAKTOR generation 2 software?

Yes. TRAKTOR LE and LE 2 users can upgrade at an attractive price to TRAKTOR PRO 2. There is also a "Grace Period" for selected products of NI and 3rd parties including TRAKTOR LE - details will be announced soon.
You might qualify for a free update to TRAKTOR LE 2. Check to see if you’re eligible.

GENERAL FAQ FOR NEW USERS

1. What are the differences of the individual TRAKTOR versions?

Please check the following comparison charts:

2. Which TRAKTOR versions allow for “hands-on” timecode control through turntables and CD decks?

TRAKTOR SCRATCH DUO 2 and TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO 2.
Please note that you CANNOT combine a TRAKTOR software with a TRAKTOR AUDIO interface to create a SCRATCH system with timecode control. Timecode control is only possible via a SCRATCH system.

3. Can I use three decks to play back tracks and replace just one deck with four Sample Deck slots in TRAKTOR generation 2?

In the PRO software versions, you can freely switch any deck from track deck to Sample Deck. In this case, having three track decks and one Sample Deck with four slots is no problem, as well as any other combination. In DUO versions, you always have two track decks and two Sample Decks with four slots each as a fixed setup. Please refer to the comparison chart for more info.

GENERAL Q&A FOR EXISTING USERS

1. I own one or multiple TRAKTOR products already and I want to upgrade to the newest generation. How do I find out if there’s an upgrade or update for me?

Go to the product you want to have - e.g. TRAKTOR PRO 2, click "Buy Now" on the top right and see the table with available updates and upgrades.

2. Will all existing TRAKTOR hardware continue to work with all new TRAKTOR versions?

Yes. All NI audio interfaces and controllers will continue to be supported fully.

3. What about my current TRAKTOR collection, can this be imported into TRAKTOR generation 2 software?

Yes. “Previous generation” TRAKTOR software (TRAKTOR PRO, TRAKTOR DUO, TRAKTOR LE, TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO, TRAKTOR SCRATCH DUO and TRAKTOR PRO S4 as well) can be installed in parallel with TRAKTOR generation 2 software. After installing the new software, you will see separate installation directories and a separate launch icon. On initial start of the newest generation software, you will be presented with a dialog offering to create a copy of your existing TRAKTOR collection – this is the recommended way as it allows you to transfer all your playlists, folders, cue points, beatgrids and other meta data over. Please note that this will not duplicate any of your music files, just the references to those files in the TRAKTOR collection.

Due to the new waveforms, TRAKTOR will update the stripe displays as you load tracks into decks. At any point, you can still launch your older version of TRAKTOR which will access your old collection. This allows you to get accustomed with the new generation and allows for a smooth transition period.

4. Will my TRAKTOR READY controller from manufacturer XY work with the new TRAKTOR generation?

Generally yes. Please note that TRAKTOR’s flexible MIDI assignments allow you to control TRAKTOR software with any combination of DJ controllers and your keyboard. You can assign any function to any key or MIDI control, including multiple assignments. To make things easier and eliminate the need to map functions from scratch, DJ controllers from other manufacturers will ship with TRAKTOR generation 2 assignments once the software is released (or can be downloaded from the manufacturer’s website). Certified TRAKTOR READY controllers can conveniently be selected in TRAKTOR’s Setup Wizard which will automatically load the respective mapping.

5. Will I be able to import my controller mappings from earlier TRAKTOR versions to TRAKTOR generation 2?

Yes, your current TRAKTOR mapping will be automatically converted from the previous version – or you can manually import .tsi files via the Import function in the newest generation TRAKTOR Controller Manager.
