This page answers a number of common questions about buying or upgrading/crosssgrading to TRAKTOR products.

1.) I own AUDIO 8 DJ or AUDIO 4 DJ and TRAKTOR LE, and would like to get TRAKTOR SCRATCH DUO. How do I do this?

In this case, there is no upgrade path to TRAKTOR SCRATCH DUO. It makes more sense to purchase the TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO Certified mixers & AUDIO 4 & 8 DJ UPGRADE and go PRO.

2.) I own AUDIO 4 DJ or AUDIO 8 DJ with TRAKTOR LE. I don’t need timecode control, but would like to upgrade to TRAKTOR DUO. How should I proceed?

You have two options: You can buy the TRAKTOR DUO UPGRADE. If you however purchase the TRAKTOR PRO Upgrade you get the full feature set of the PRO generation. This path is also recommended if the only NI DJ product you own is TRAKTOR LE.

3.) I bought TRAKTOR SCRATCH DUO. However, I would like to upgrade to TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO. Is this possible?

Yes, you need to purchase the TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO Software Upgrade from the Online Store. However, please note that due to the number of audio channels available via the AUDIO 4 DJ interface, you will only be able to control two decks via timecode vinyl or CD.


4.) I bought TRAKTOR SCRATCH DUO. However, I also want the full feature set of TRAKTOR PRO. What's the best course of action?

Buy the TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO Software Upgrade. TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO contains the TRAKTOR PRO software, so this way you will be able to use both TRAKTOR PRO and the TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO - although with a maximum of two timecode-controlled decks.

1.) I own TRAKTOR SCRATCH. Which is the right update/upgrade for me?

If you own TRAKTOR SCRATCH you just need to buy the TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO Software Upgrade, but NOT the TRAKTOR PRO Upgrade. Please note that the timecode control does not work in TRAKTOR PRO.


2.) Can TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO also be controlled with MIDI controllers? Furthermore is it possible to use TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO without timecode control, but with MIDI control instead.

Yes, both are possible. [see question 3.)


3.) What is the difference between TRAKTOR PRO and TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO?

There is absolutely no difference except that the timecode control via vinyl and/or control CDs only works in TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO due to the included DVS plug-in.

4.) I own TRAKTOR PRO and want to use timecode vinyls and/or CDs. What must I do?

Please note that TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO contains the TRAKTOR PRO software, but with additional DVS functionality enabled.
This vinyl / CD control is only possible via purchasing a TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO product (full version, update, crossgrade or upgrade kit). Each one of those products contains a TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO licence, necessary to enable DVS functionality. It is NOT possible to get DVS functionality by owning TRAKTOR PRO and purchasing an audio interface such as the AUDIO 8 DJ or AUDIO 4 DJ.
TRAKTOR PRO users should buy the TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO CROSSGRADE.


5.) I own Audio 8 DJ and want to use timecode vinyls and/or CDs. What must I do?

You would need TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO in order to get timecode functionality. Therefore NI offers the TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO Certified mixers & AUDIO 4 & 8 DJ UPGRADE especially for users of Audio 8 DJ or certified mixers.
