Does Reaktor work OK with RME Multiface?

I'm looking at getting an RME Multiface, so If anyone can comment on compatibility with Reaktor4 and Rewire, I'd be really grateful.

I have the same setup. Reaktor 4 works well. Logic 6 does, too. I don't know for Live.

But you should definitely check it indeed, because the multiface uses non interleaved audio buffers, while most other cards use interleaved buffers. This can cause problems in some applications, including Reason (i don't know for 2.5) (the other card i knowthat uses these non interleaved buffers is the metric halo mobile io)

I think Live works ok, too..... You should ask on the Live forum. However, please note i haven't tested more the 2 channel output from my multiface at the moment. I can try using more channels if you want.

I'm not using Rewire but, being given its architecture, problems with it are related to the rewire master, not to the hardware. You really should be ok with Logic as a master if it works with your current setup.IMPORTANT : there are NO coremidi drivers for the RME digi/multi-face. but i notice you have another midi interface....

Thanks very much for the reply, golinvauxb

Rewire works OK with the Delta44/ASIO (though Live doesn't always start on the first beat on the first attempt - sometimes it takes a couple of attempts, which is a bit of a nuisance if I'm trying to do a bounce in Logic). But in OS9 the Delta's latency is poor.

But Rewire doesn't work well with the Digi001/Direct I/O, which has good latency.

So I'm after a card that can give me Rewire, good latency - and Reaktor4.

Are you able to test Rewire for me with your current set up. If you can do that you may need to try different versions of Rewire, because I've only found one version (2.05) that seems to work. I could email that to you if that would be convenient.

I perfectly understand though, if you don't have the time to do this - you've been a lot of help already.

yes i am willing to double-check this for you

that would be stupid to spend $$$ on hardware you're not 100% sure works

please tell me what i need to test and how

Thanks Ben, that's excellent.

Firstly, do you have any Rewire-able applications, eg Reason or Ableton Live?

Also, your earlier reference to Reaktor4 working well with the RME Mutiface. Is that as a VST in Logic6.1, or as stand alone?

Hi Ben, I was wondering if you were still around?

hi

sorry... yes i'm still around.

i don't have ableton live or reason :(

also, i was referring to the standalone version. I'm
not using OS9 so i can't comment on VST in Logic.

Reaktor 4 works fine in standalone mode and as an
AU in logic, too

And trust me (being given the rewire architecture)
that if logic works fine with an RME (and it does) and if it works
fine on your machine as a rewire master (using built-in sound or
whatever), then it will work fine with the RME AND when being rewire
master. Rewire really means an additionnal "plugin" running in Logic,
not another audio app running (even if its GUI sits in another window)
