I'm so pissed, but thankfully I've had some time to cool down.... I was in the middle of working when all of a sudden I got this pop up from K3 3.02.0004 in Nuendo 4.22 and got this message:
UNAUTHORIZED COPY - bla bla bla... BUY OR CLOSE !
WTF? WTF? I spend thousands of dollars each year on music and other software, "Unauthorized copy"? What the hell is this about?
Call tech support: 25 minutes to talk to someone who asks me my email and requests by email a couple of registry files, the system reference file from Service Center and a jpeg of the error message, to get back a stock "make sure your Kontakt3.dll's are all the same"... yes they're all the same... so otherwise reinstall Kontakt... BLA F******* BLA BLA BLA!
THE PROBLEM HAS TO BE AN ERROR IN YOUR COPY PROTECTION MECHANISM! It occurred while I was editing a Bela D Media file in Kontakt 3, and there is nothing "unauthorized" about any part of my system. Kontakt 3 has been working for months, and after killing the project and reloading everything is working again.
Hmmm: so it was "Unauthorized" and now it isn't? Right.
Now I understand that in software, so many things can go wrong and occasional crashes can be expected. I also understand that you need to protect your intellectual property. BUT I find it completely inconsiderate is that this "unauthorized" flag doesn't even give you the option of going back to your project and saving it's current status before neutralizing K3.
So again we're the whipping boys for the piracy underworld. "Thank you for your support." You're welcome, thanks for yours.
