Transfer/move/reintall libraries?

I have EW Gold XP and String Essentials installed on my Pcs and and would like to move them to other Pcs, what's the best way to go about it?

Can i just copy the Program Files folders containing these libraries to my new Pc and authorize it? ...I'd love it if it was that simple?

I'd like to know what I'm getting into before i do anything.

Thanks.

Edited: Ooops! I suppose i will still have to reinstall the player right? Even if i don't use it...

There are two answers to your question:

Under the current system, you would have to run the installers for those products in order for them to work properly.

Under the upcoming Kontakt 3.5 (due any day now), you will be able to simply copy them over, then click the Add Library button to add them for use.

Aaaahhh!

Now guess what I'm gonna do?

Great news, David.

David,

Just wanted to let you and everybody else know that the new "add a library" feature works pretty good. So much smoother than having to re-install everything! I had to restart K3 a couple of time to authorize everthing but it was a smooth ride i would say.

Very cool feature.

Thanks NI

Cheers.

Yeah, that Add Library function is great. Especially for old Kontakt Player 1 libraries and Kompakt libraries, you don't even have to run the installer. As long as you have the files, Add Library will help you get them into Kontakt, and then it will trigger Service Center to help you authorize them.

how to add Kontakt 2 library?

Hi!

I copied my old Kontakt 2 library from the original Kontakt 2 installer DVDs to my hard drive and then I tried to add my Kontakt 2 library by clicking the new Add Library button in Kontakt 3.5. A message tells me "No library found" in that folder.

How do I add the K2 library correctly into K3?

I'm not sure if the K2 library needs to be authorized but try this: Go in start menu and see if there's an NI link with a windows sheild on it and click on it. This will open service centre and will authorize your library automatically. At least, that what it did in win7 RC.

Thanks for the reply. But my problem is not authorizing anything. If I search for the files manually, the instruments from the K2 library load just fine. I just wanted the K2 library to show up in the libraries tab like the K3 library does.

Tillo, maybe you didn't know this but the K2 library is included in the K3 library.

The K3 library is the K2 library with additional instruments.
