Reaktor 5 crashes auvaltool under 10.6

Hi.

I just upgraded from OSX 10.5.8 to 10.6.0 and ran Logic 9.0 for the first time which triggered a full rescan of all my audio units.

The "Reaktor5" and "Reaktor5 FX" both crashed the auvaltool during the scan.

Here's the gory details:

Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)
Exception Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x0000000000000008

I'm also attaching the crash report for each with the full information.

According to Service Centre I am running the latest version of Reaktor 5 available (5.1.5.002)

Hope this can get fixed quickly.

You're probably best sending this to Support direct rather than posting it here.

Thanks Moujik I have also reported it to support but I thought it was worth posting here also since it is (a) a technical issue and, (b) presumably of interest to anyone else thinking about upgrading to 10.6.0.

Good call... I'm resolutely sticking with Tiger

And sorry, I should have said "send this to Support as well as posting here" - didn't mean to imply it was not of interest or relevance here.

Heh... I can't fault your strategy.

Alas I am not so self-disciplined. I told myself I would wait until 10.6.1 and Logic 9.0.1 but... here I am ;-)

Yo mmower !

it seems our Reaktor are blocked! I deleted mine and downloaded the demo, it works on snow leopard. The problem isn't the OS, the problem is native instrument, they crashed my Reaktor and yours, it's ridiculus, because I paid it. I just don't understand why they did this...

Salut et bonne chance mon ami

If I remember the sequence of events correctly my own Reaktor problem turned out to be self-inflicted. I'd read an article at Create Digital Music about using monolingual to recover disk space (which I needed very badly on my laptop drive).

It didn't occur to me that (and I still don't understand why) simply stripping the, unused, PPC binary should cause Reaktor to crash but after re-installinging both Kontakt and Reaktor (I was having problems with both which should have been a clue) I was able to get Reaktor to pass auvaltool.

I've had several crashes from Reaktor both in Logic and standalone since but not systematic errors as I described before.

Regards,

Matt

Just as he said. Reinstall from the original installer using the Leopard compatibility patch:

http://download.native-instruments.c...InstallerPatch

Then, update to 5.1.5. Done.
