Making Mincemeat

I am now using Kontact 3 for the first time so I am bit of a beginner on using a software sampler (used to use my Emu) and would be grateful for any tips on cutting up breaks. I have a loop of beats which is already set at the BPM I want and I want to slice it up then dump it into Cubase so I can create my own loop from the slices. Basically, I have sliced it up using the wave editor and then dragged each slice into the mapping editor and made it so each slice has its own root key. When I go into Cubase and try and redraw the original loop (so I can check it has been done correctly), I am having difficulties. However I draw it, the loop does not flow correctly - usually, I would be using MIDI so I would just "import MIDI file" in Cubase and this would draw in all the notes for me to create the original loop and I would just need to tweak them. Now that I'm not using MIDI, I'm not sure what to do (? ?) do I need to quantize it somehow or is there something major I am missing in Kontact 3? Sorry for the really basic questions but would be so grateful if somebody could point me in the right direction....
Many thx

Have a look at section 15.6 (especially 15.6.4) in the Kontakt 3 manual - you can automatically slice your loop and drag the MIDI triggering sequence directly into your host.

HTH

PS Before slicing your loop, check that the BPM is set correctly - manual section 15.4.2 (I think that Kontakt assumes a 1 bar loop)

Thx DarkStar_GT - I have followed your advice and have now used the midi file (which is great) - BUT whenever I try and quantize or redraw the pattern in Cubase Key Editor so that it starts at straight notes (in order that I can make my own pattern), the playback has lots of clicks and glitches. Do you know a way I can sort this out?
