Yeah, "bother" was the wrong word to use.

I dunno ... I just can't get past the idea of fake vinyl (ie, FS) being like an inflatable sex doll.

Seems like a real waste of money to me, if all you do with it is stuff you can already do really well with Traktor. And at no risk of failure.

I could wear a fake Rolex, but I don't.

I could use a fake Mont Blanc, but I don't.

I could buy clothes in Thailand, but I don't.

I could give girlfriends cubic zirconia ... *lol* ... I wish I had!!

Why pretend to be something that you are not? It isn't cool to fake.

*EDIT*: I wrote this post in haste. It is wrong to deride someone who wants to use a product like FS - after all, my preference for Traktor isn't always accepted by other DJs. I don't really care what people use to perform, but I feel sorry for those who feel they need to look like something they are not.

actually SENZ
Also name one regular DJ with Gold Plated Technics 1210's - you can't because only the best 'wicka-wicka-wicka djs' as you call them, get to compete for them.
Thats a load of crap because anyone with $1000.00 bucks can go buy gold plated technics 1210/1200's off the shelf and they dont need to compete for them.

and
Scratch Perverts/The Executioners/DJ Cash Money/DJ A-Trak and many more get paid nuff $$$ by people worldwide who absolutely love hip-hop and scratching.
True enough these Dj's do get paid very well to do showcase sets worldwide but you'd be hard pressed to catch them playing for more than 30 to 45 minute sets. I've seen "live" everyone mentioned except for the scratch perverts and that includes many you didnt mention Craze,Qbert, Swamp and my personal fav Shortcut who absolutely rocked it when he played here. The shortest set any of them played was 30 min (Swamp, Qbert , ATrack) all the others played 45 minutes with the exception of Shortcut who played for 1 and 1/2 hours but thats because he was rock'n the crowd with breaks and old school cuts while scratching and breaking down beats. Gotta agree with Phil on this one very few want to hear the wicka wicka at a club all night long.

Not bagging you, just curious about the perceived advantages.
Because the bulk of my library is vinyl, and I've been spinning vinyl since 1987. It feels right to have turntables, and I'm too old to change that. That said, yes I am comfortable with most of the CD players on the market. If I HAD to use them it wouldn't be a big deal. But I wouldn't BUY them when something like FS is around.

notice the video doesn't really show craze doing anything too crazy with his turntable hand.. its all crossfader stuff he's doin.. i'd like to see some cueing/backspinning or for him to actually pull off a dmc-ish routine with finalscratch

Re: How bout some "real world" video?

Going back to this post...

The question of whether or not you can use TFS to beatmatch has already been answered in v1.1. Smooth segues and perfectly matched beats has more to do with the dj then the system.

The real test for the system is:
1) slow scratching (i.e. drags)
2) spinbacks
3) needle drops

I'd really be interested in seeing video clips of TFS 2.0 handling these things.

Re: could care less

We aren't trying to argue weither or not dj craze is a good dj, we are trying to find out if FS2 will do what FS1 couldn't.

Thats the bottom line.

The real end.

Hopefully I didn't miss this idea in the thread:

it looks to me that Craze is using FS on a Windows based program, does it not? You can see that small window box pulled up with some settings-looks like Windows.

Weak!!! i want to see the full connection to a Power/iBook and then I want to see them click on "about this Mac" and see what OS X version they are running and then see how much RAM they have and then see if they have a stinkin' external drive with only audio on it that runs 7200rpm and then I want to see all the other junk that it takes to make FS work. That's what I want to see.

One other note: "djphil", you are a poor soul.

I'm not mad

Re: HQ DJ Craze links

Guys,
I think I'm with Phil on this one. This kind of DJing can be cool once in a while and for a short amt of time. Scratching contains a a bunch of skill sets that will allow you to be considered a well rounded DJ, but theres more to it. To me Djing is more about sequencing, eqing, Beat mixing, Beat juggling. Scratching only "scratches" the surface of what DJing is about for me. thats my two cents.......By the way I could care less about gold plated Turntables and how much a DJ gets paid.
