Information on Vestax VCI-100 / Missing Mac installer and MIDI device not showing up
Here is some background information on two issues that some owners of the VCI-100 might experience.
- missing Mac installer on Traktor LE CD
This is due to a production error that only affects a certain batch of the CDs. Please contact Vestax who will send you a replacement CD.
- VCI-100 not visible as MIDI device in Traktor 3/Traktor LE
This problem is caused by the generic USB MIDI driver on some PCs. Please contact Vestax tech support for assistance.
Vestax is generally handling all tech support for Traktor LE for VCI-100 customers. Please also see this thread:

I'm sorry...
I'm still unclear on who I need to get in contact with and how to go about getting the missing mac installer. I purchased a VCI-100 and am on a Macbook with OSX 10.4.9. Right now the VCI-100 is just an expensive paperweight and I cannot figure out how to get in contact with Vestax.
Please help me.
Thanks

Thanks for the snippy reply, however your post in the other thread directed me towards contacting NI via the support module, and this thread directed me towards Vestax. It is very unclear how to get ahold of Vestax USA, as there is no contact info in any of the documentation that I received with my controller, only info for Japan and Europe. I'm recovering from surgery and figured someone who had some success could give me a concise reply without trying to make me feel like an ass.
I'm frankly disappointed that the CD wasn't shipped with Mac installation, and instead of simply making the install available on the NI website for easy download, I have to hunt down SOMEONE who can help me, and play phone tag all day from my bed while I still have an IV in my hand.
Remember, I'm not the only one with this problem, and in getting a concise, helpful reply from someone, it would help other customers with the same problem.
Thanks.

Well, the "official" post by Thomas, who is - unlike me - part of NI's Team, says to contact Vestax.
Nevertheless, nothing keeps you from asking NI, worst thing that can happen is that they give you contact info for Vestax.
I understand that you are frustrated, don't let that affect your sense of humor. ;-)

Specifically at least part of this problem is that the VCI-100 uses the generic class drivers (as do many other pieces of hardware for USB Midi driver support and some other pieces of software (like the Logitech WebCams) apply an upper filter driver to the class driver to modify its functions and when that occurs the driver looses its ability to present MIDI class devices to the system. There are instructions here on the forums for uninstalling and cleaning up the mess that these other applications make in the registry and then DON'T clean up when they uninstall.
I totally feel and understand your pain for this problen as I was one of the original BCD2000 owners and started work on finding a solution to that problem when the Jog wheels did not work on the BCD. I was not the finder of the solution to the VCI-100 problem but understand it pretty well now.
The thing to bear in mind with all the new releases of Traktor LE is that for device related issues, the device vendor is on the hook for support. In this case Vestax is the vendor to go to for device support. That the CD was not manufactured correctly is most unfortunate and it did not help that there was much confusion about who was on the hook to address that issue is most regrettable.
On the issue of getting hold of Vestax U.S.A I'll get that info from Support and post back here. At this point I'm not aware of any way to download the Vestax Traktor LE MAC installer.
For those with no Vestax device showing up on your windows system, starting by looking at all the USB devices you have had plugged in and have installed software for them. You can uninstall the software and see if that helps but at least in the Loigitech WebCam issue it does not remove the upper filter driver, so you have to hack the registry yourself, there is help for that on the forums here in one of the Vestax threads. For those with with Logitech WebCams you might try contacting their support to let them know there is an issue. They seem to be aware there is a filter driver issue but are totally unwilling to discuss the matter technically or give any indication of whether they might fix it. One wonders how those drivers ever passed Microsoft WHQL testing?

Vestax contact info for VCI-100 support
I also had a Traktor LE disc that was missing the Mac installer. After calling NI, I was given contact info for the US Vestax distributor. After a quick phone call, I was emailed a link to a Mac installer for Traktor LE. Here's the info:
516-270-2706 ask for Joe - he was most helpful.
Good luck!

I was just about to order the VCI 100 till i saw this thread. I just have a few questions. I currently own the Numark Total Control with Traktor LE and it works good. I really haven't really played with it that much so i don't know all of the technical stuff yet and haven't had the chance to use it in a live performance. But my question is has the issue with the mac installer been taken care of for the VCI 100? Also when I get the VCI 100 can I just plug it in and set it up or do I have to reinstall Traktor with the disc that comes with the VCI 100? I bought my Total Control in mid July so I do't know if i have a bad copy or was this something that never affected ths TC?
