    Hi everyone,

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 22nd issue of “Traktor on the Record”. This is our first for a while, and following the release of Traktor 2 we’re expecting loads of good questions.

In case you’re not familiar with our “On the Record” sessions, you can read all about it here:
    http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=75597

And a quick overview of the basics…
    • This thread works like a mailbag, all posts go in an internal queue and won't be visible at first.
    • Only NI product owners can post questions in this session.
    • Please keep it focussed and suggest only one topic per session.
I’ll leave this thread open for questions until Friday the 27th when it’ll be closed. We’ll then post as many answers as we can here next week.

    Ask away!

    Thanks,
    Keir.

We’re considering additional file management functions, even though the Traktor browser was originally not designed to replace the operating systems file management. But the implementation of this is a complex task, especially because these functions can lead to data loss if they don‘t work 100% correctly, so don‘t expect anything in the near term here.

The default and user mapping share the same signalling but the default mapping uses an additional layer (called Device I/O) for more complex mechanism, such as driving the loop size LED’s and high-res jog wheels which the user mapping currently cannot access.

Instead of re-implementing all these functions to the user mapping, we plan to make the default mapping much more configurable in the future, and we are already working on this. This will allow the you to use the functions that are only available in default mode side by side with your custom-mapped functions.

You can expect to see this addressed in an upcoming update.

This is also something we're working on but we're not sure if it will already be able to make it into the next update.

I can't give you a specfic date yet, but it is planned.

Nothing along those lines is planned at the moment but we have other improvements to the sample decks in the works.

The old sync behaviour with timecode only differs in that sync stays active when engaged. This has the advantage that tracks are automatically synced when loaded. If you want to revert back to the „old“ behaviour, use the function “Tempo > BeatSync” and map it in “Hold” Interaction Mode, which makes it work as a trigger.

This is something we’ve considered. We have some similar plans for the long term future, but there’s no information on them just yet.

There are no plans for this specific feature in the near term because we’re focussing on some other aspects, but your point is noted.

Our team has grown a lot recently and this allows us to work on workflow improvements in parallel with new features. The aspects that you mention are on our radar!

We are planning to add 4-band EQ support, but we don’t have a release date set for this just yet.

There are no plans for this right now.

We have some really great ideas for Maschine integration, but there are no plans for routing audio through the Maschine FX at the moment.

These are interesting questions and have been noted but there isn’t any news on them at the moment.

We’re aware of all these points and want to introduce them at some point.

The interest in improved CDJ HID support is something we’re aware of, and we have this on our list for future updates.

This should work, yes. The knob range (0-1) is subdivided in 24 steps (2x 12 semitones on the equal temperament scale). By subdividing the MIDI range of 128 steps by 24 (10.67) you can achieve the half tone steps.

And that wraps up the latest session of Traktor On the Record. I hope it's a good read, thanks to Tobias and Friedemann for answering and also thanks to everyone that submitted a question.

There will be another 'On the Record' coming up soon! We'll keep you posted.
