DESCRIPTION

Live Sampler
by Red Wierenga

thanks to lx, CList, John Nowak, and sowari for ideas

Sampler which holds up to eight 10-second samples (can be increased by increasing Audio Table size). You can set recording time in advance or on the fly. You may set the sampler to, uponst ceasing recording, commence playback, looping, overdubbing, reverse direction, or my favorite, the ol' "To and Fro." Yes, that's right, folks: go forwards, the backwards. What a country! Outfitted with pitch-shifter, speed control, filter, ping-pong, and I forget what else. Maybe that's it. Please email me with suggestions for improvements and features to add. I intend to keep working on this until the end of time or such point as I die, whichever comes first. God love you!

This is great. Not many samplers that actually sample like this one. I would love to have this in Reaktor 6 too.

A live sampler like this should be a block! :)

Okay, I give...how DO you connect to the input?

The panel is very clear and easy to use. Everything works the way I think it should. Very intuitive. Thanks for a very nice instrument. 10 out of 10.

This one is brilliant. Unfortunately the x-dimension of audio tables can't be larger than 999999, which provides just 22 secs loop time at 44,1kHz. Is there a workaround to increase that to somewhat 200 secs?

Jim, you need to connect something to the input.

this is awesome, a wonderful instrument.... i had not so much time to spend with it, but i'm impressed yet! 10 from me, this is wonderful! i tried to figure out the pitch-algo in the structure - but i only found out, that it's based on modulating the delay time... could you give me a hint what for example goes on in the "delay time" macro? i'd love to adopt that technic but dont just want to copy and paste! please email to toxonic@toxonic.net

Err, is it me? I can't get record to work. Looking at the structure, the input isn't connected to anything.

This is certainly the best sample looper in the library.. The only problem I see is that the reverse and To/Fro options don't work as I would expect them. If I click the reverse button it doesn't reverese from the last position of the loop.. Click the reverse button on and off several times to see what I mean. Other than that.. brilliant!

this is exactly what i've been looking for. thanks! one thing: I haven't been able to figure out the exact setup to overdub and keep instead of overdub and clear as mentioned in this thread. anyone help? http://www.nativeinstruments.de/forum_us/showthread.php?t=16676&highlight=live+sampler

this is a fabulously useful (and intuitive!) little package. with three or four of these next to each other, and with the overdub function, it's easy to create whole pieces using just raw audio inputs. the cpu load is low enough that even four of them can be paired with a couple of sequenced synths to boot. brilliant!

I would like to suggest a quick look at the master of the vintage loop machices of all time Jam Man Lexicon, it's functionality will never be beaten , (unless you include its functions to your machine), please do it!!! I would love to have an option to Jam Man, plus filter and stuff, separeted by layers, uahhuuu!!!

This is brilliant, and a very nice companion for Ableton live.

i take that back, this is perhaps the most interesting ensemble ive seen so far, its hard to find any software that samples so quick and easy (maybe ableton), and its in reaktor no less, thanks!

Great sampler. I've been running my guitar into it. The controls are easy to use and the pitch, pitch/speed, and speed buttons are wonderful. Many possibilities with the little guy.

Most useful ens so far for me. I am running three with added wobbly bits - using bubumapper to wobble the pitchshift tonally, I couldn't be happier. I finally managed to impress my girlfriend with Reaktor "Oh, I want to play with this one", so thank you so much for this. (Try putting "Another one bites the dust" into it and forwards reverse it...see what you get.)

And Mr. Durrant is singled out in David Toops new "Haunted Weather" book for mention of the "vanguard" so no doubt thats a qualified (and more) remark.

Thanks for the kind words, all. If you have suggestions or feature requests, please don't hesitate. Erik, to load samples, right-click on the audio table, then click on File | Load Date into Table. Set length desired by moving ms knob, then click on Set Length: ms.

this is brilliant. it gives Steim's LiSa a real run for it's money. the scene selection for which parts of a sample to play back, is beautifully programmed. also i am glad to see the use of a forgotten reaktor classic....the Pitch Shifter. this was always one of my favourite reaktor FX and i can't understand why it was not included in R4. anyway, pitch your recorded sample down and use the pitch shifter to pitch up and you get some great textures. btw, this is also great for treating samples you already have, just load them into the audio table.

Oh, 1, 2, and 3 are effects sends.

If you'd like to run more than one of these at a time, go for it. I would have put two next to each other, but the file size would have been too large.

Since the play controls are multi-pictures, I put invisible MIDI learn buttons in the structure of macro "Run Logic." So, just go in there, click on MIDI learn and play your keyboard or tap your foot or what have you.
