Three-64
Wavetables, Sampling, 8bit sound ability
DESCRIPTION
Three Sixty Four
The monophonic three-64 synthesizer is a blend of the sound associated with 8bit home computer devices and the clean layout and structure of the mini-moog. The instrument can produce many of the hallmark sounds of the 80s computers and with the ring-modulation and custom waveforms of many more. Users can either use the preset waveforms, draw their own, calculate them with the wave-combiner or use the built-in 4bit sampler. The waveforms are very crude and have some unusual features and charm. Especially the triangle waveform has many more overtones than intended.
Features:
Three wave table oscillators.
- Each oscillator has three basic wave forms: Triangle, Saw, variable pulse
- Preset waveforms are calculated, not stored
- 23 steps per period
- Each oscillator allows for custom drawing of waveforms with recall
- Sync
- Ring-modulation
- Pitch modulation
- Pulse width modulation
- Oscillator three:
Can function both as a 4bit sampler and a wavetable oscillator
Can be taken off the keyboard tracking for LFO
Has a waveform calculator that allows to mathematically combine waveforms:
- Hold and drag the symbols under the waveform window of OSC3 to change calculation
A smoother can be applied to the waveform
4 bit sampler.
- Loop length, sample start
- Sampler is fed through Ext. in gain
- Sampler starts recording once it receives a signal ->Hold record and feed signal
Noise.
- Choice between white noise and pseudo-random pitched noise
Modulation.
- Pitch modulation with fixed intervals (m3,M3,P5,8ve)
- Envelope to pitch
- LFO (Osc3) to pitch
- Seamless fade from Noise to OSC3 for modulation bus
- All modulation can be fixed or enabled with the mod wheel
Filter.
- 12db HP,BP,LP Notch
- Resonance
Envelopes:
- ADSR, hardwired to Filter and VCA, respectively
- Filter envelope can be routed to modulation bus
Notes:
- The PWM works best with the pulse waveform, although it is available for the other waveforms. In combination with other waveforms it can produce something in concept similar to a pulse-saw.
This instrument is intended for a quick and dirty way to 80s 8bit sounds. This synth is not a 100% authentic reproduction of the SID or other 8bit sound chips. For the purpose of absolute accuracy there are other true and amazing emulations. This is primarily a fun hands-on synth for leads and quick sound effects.
