How to update the TRAKTOR AUDIO 6 / 10 for iPad Compatibility
With our latest firmware and iOS version 6, you can can now use your TRAKTOR AUDIO 6 /10 as an audio interface for the iPad. This enables multichannel audio output from TRAKTOR DJ as well as other iOS audio applications supporting the Core Audio framework on iOS devices.
Note: Since the iPad does not provide sufficient power over the USB connection, always use the power adapter for the TRAKTOR AUDIO 6 and TRAKTOR AUDIO 10.
Follow the instructions below to update your TRAKTOR AUDIO 6 / 10 and learn more about the settings and requirements for using it with the iPad and TRAKTOR DJ.
Update the firmware of your soundcard
For the iOS Core Audio multichannel support to work, the latest firmware for your TRAKTOR AUDIO 6 (Firmware # 47) or TRAKTOR AUDIO 10 (Firmware # 48) is required. The firmware is installed on the TRAKTOR AUDIO 6 / 10 via the Native Instruments Device Updater. In order to update the firmware of your device, proceed as explained below:- Make sure that your TRAKTOR AUDIO 6 / 10 is currently connected to your system.
- Download the latest Device Updater from here (TRAKTOR AUDIO 6) or here (TRAKTOR AUDIO 10).
- Open your download folder and run the file "DeviceUpdater".
- This will open up an Update panel where you will see the name and current firmware number of your device, as well as the firmware number to be installed (Firmware # 47 or # 48). The panel will inform you that the device update is available.

- Click on the Update button to start the firmware update process.
- A dialog box will ask you to stop any audio playback. Quit all applications which might output audio and confirm again by clicking Update. The soundcard will flash during the update installation.
- At the end of the procedure, the panel will confirm the successful installation. Click on Exit to leave the panel. Your firmware has now been updated!

iOS Requirements
- The use of iOS 6.0 or higher is required to use your TRAKTOR AUDIO 6 / 10 with the iPad. If you have not done so yet, you can download iOS 6 (latest update) from the System Preferences of your iPad.
- Additionally, you will need either an Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit (more info here) or a Lighting to USB Camera Adapter (more info here) so you can connect your TRAKTOR AUDIO 6 / 10 to the iPad. Both items can be purchased at the Apple Store or at your local Apple retailer.
Setting up your soundcard in TRAKTOR DJ
This section explains a simple setup for TRAKTOR DJ to send the Main Output and the Monitor Output (headphones) to two separate stereo output pairs of your TRAKTOR AUDIO 6 / 10 audio interface.
- Plug the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit / Lighting to USB Camera Adapter into the port of your iPad.
- Plug the USB cable of your TRAKTOR AUDIO 6 / TRAKTOR AUDIO 10 into the Camera Connection Kit / Lighting to USB Adapter. Since the TRAKTOR AUDIO 6 / 10 are plug-and-play devices, they will be automatically recognized by iOS.
- Launch TRAKTOR DJ. If your soundcard is being connected for the first time, you will see a panel with the layout of the audio interface describing the sound output setup.
- Press the gearwheel symbol to access the TRAKTOR DJ Preferences.
- Select the Audio Setup menu and check Output 3/4 as Master Outputs and Output 1/2 as Monitor Outputs.
- The master output from TRAKTOR DJ is now playing back though the Output Channel A of the TRAKTOR AUDIO 6 / 10. Additionally, you can prelisten the cue signal from a Deck via the headphone output of your TRAKTOR AUDIO 6 / 10. In order to enable prelistening for a Deck, simply press the corresponding headphone symbol.

- Finally, you can adjust the balance and volume levels of your MASTER and CUE signals by touching the loudspeaker symbol at the top of TRAKTOR DJ.
