Can I move my Native Instruments software or Libraries to another location on my computer?
Please refer to the below information before moving your Native Instruments software or libraries to another location on your computer.
Applications
It is not recommended to move your Native Instruments software applications after installation, as this can cause various problems including failed updates.
Preferences and Settings
Native Instruments installers place preference and settings files in various system and user folders. It is advised not to move or delete any of these files unless you are following specific instructions from the Knowledge Base or Native Instruments Support technicians to resolve an issue.Plug-ins
OS XComputers running OS X have dedicated system folders for VST, AU or RTAS plug-ins. Do not move your plug-in files to another location as your sequencer will not be able to detect them.
Windows
On Windows machines you are prompted to specify a location for your plug-in files (VST) during installation. Make sure you point the installer to the correct VST plug-in folder. Native Instruments recommends using one dedicated folder for all VST plug-in files and configuring all your host sequencers to use this folder.
Libraries
If you do not define a custom library path during the initial installation process, the library folders will be installed in these default locations:Mac OS
Mac HD > Users > Shared
Windows
C: > Users > Public > PublicDocuments
It is safe to move your Native Instruments sample libraries to another hard drive. In some cases, performance can even be improved if you have an extra hard drive devoted to library storage as shown below.
