How to uninstall / reinstall a third party KOMPAKT / INTAKT OEM software on a Mac

Note: this article refers only to sample libraries that came with KOMPAKT, INTAKT and KONTAKT PLAYER 1. This article does not refer to sample libraries that come with KONTAKT PLAYER 2.

This article assumes that the full sample library of the product in question is already residing on an external or internal hard disk. It is a useful guide for users who have a library activation problem or who want to install the product on a new computer without having to re-copy all of the sample material.

1. First you should delete the files related to this particular library by deleting the following files. (Note that you may not have ALL of these files, please just delete the ones you have.)

- Macintosh HD / Library / Preferences / com.native-instruments.<productname>.plist

- Macintosh HD / Library / Preferences / <productname>.plist

- Macintosh HD / User / Library / Preferences / com.native-instruments.<productname>.plist

- Macintosh HD / User / username / Library / Preferences / <productname>.plist

- Macintosh HD / Applications / <company name>  / <productname>

2. If you have made personal changes to your product library, it is recommended to create a backup in order to keep your work.

How to create a backup:

- Within the product sample library folder, locate the "Instruments" and "Multis" folders and rename them as follows: "Instruments BUP" and "Multis BUP"

Reason for the backup: During the re-installation process, the installer will overwrite original files, while it will not touch files which have new names.

3. Note that some libraries come with multiple disks while others just provide a one-DVD-package.

- If you have a product with multiple disks, please insert disk No1 and reinstall the product with the original installer. After it reaches the end of the FIRST DISK, you can safely quit the installation.

- If you have a "one-disk/one-DVD-product", you should reinstall the product with the original installer and quit it when it is completed.

4. After finishing the installation process, please run SERVICE CENTER to activate the product. Within the SERVICE CENTER Update Manager, you can download the latest update for your product . This is recommended.

5. If you plan to use the KOMPAKT / INTAKT /KONTAKT PLAYER 1 software that comes with the sample library, read further:

- On a Macintosh system, please note that KOMPAKT, INTAKT and KONTAKT PLAYER 1 can only be used on Mac OS 10.3. - 10.4. and only on PowerPC-Macs. Newer OS versions and Intel-Macs are not supported.

- Start the standalone application of the product in question (KOMPAKT / INTAKT / KONTAKT PLAYER 1 software).

- If you get the message "Could not find Content file...", you need to re-direct the application to its library directory.

- To do so, confirm the message by clicking the "Yes" button. Navigate in the upcoming dialogue window to the sample library folder, select it and press "choose".

- Restart the application in order to make the changes active.

6. If plan to use the library with KONTAKT 2 or 3, note the following:

If you get the error message "The patch you are trying to load is not registered..." please read this knowledge base article.

Please update to the latest version KONTAKT PLAYER 3. It is available as a free download within SERVICE CENTER Update Manager or as a direct download from our website's Update Manager.
