How to enable the view of hidden files and folders in Windows systems

In Windows 7 and Windows Vista:
1. Open any folder with your Windows Explorer and click on the 'Organize' button in the upper left corner of the window.
2. In the menu, choose 'Folder and search Options.'
3. Click the 'View' tab.
4. Select the option 'Show hidden files, folders and drives' as shown in the screenshot below.
5. Click the 'Apply to folders' button to apply the change to all folders.
6. Press the 'OK' button at the bottom of the 'Folder Options' dialogue to confirm.

In Windows XP:
1. Open any folder with your Windows Explorer, open the 'Tools' menu and choose 'Folder Options'.
2. Click the 'View' tab
3. Select the option 'Show hidden files and folders' as shown in the screenshot below.
4. Click the 'Apply to all folders' button.
5. Press the 'OK' button at the bottom of the 'Folder Options' dialogue to confirm.
