I already have some of the applications/libraries in KOMPLETE 8 on my computer, how should I proceed with the installation?
If you want to install KOMPLETE 8 on a computer that already has some NATIVE INSTRUMENTS software installed, you are advised to still install EVERYTHING again from the KOMPLETE 8 installer. (Of course, you can deselect some components if you simply don't want to install them for whatever reason). KOMPLETE 8 contains upgraded versions of our applications and libraries so can install these new versions to ensure you are up to date.
Applications:
Please note that in case the KOMPLETE 8 installer detects an application version on the computer which is newer than the version provided in KOMPLETE 8, it will bring up a warning message and deselect those applications in the component tree. This is to avoid a downgrade for those applications. We recommend to keep all other components selected unless you have a specific reason to do otherwise.
Please also note that if you are installing an upgrade from an earlier version of KOMPLETE, it is not necessary to uninstall anything before installing KOMPLETE 8.
Libraries:
You can either choose the same library installation folder that you have used for previous KOMPLETE installations or choose a new one. Both will work.
If you choose the same folder you used previously, the existing files in the Library folders will be overwritten with new versions, except for some cases where the Library name has been changed since KOMPLETE 7, e.g. "Vintage Organs" has become "Vintage Organs Library" in KOMPLETE 8. Therefore, if you find the same library folder twice, one with and one without the additional word "Library" in the folder name, you can delete the one without the word "Library" after the KOMPLETE 8 installation, as this is the older version, which is now obsolete.
The library location is set under the 'Location' column in the "Custom Install" screen. Click into the 'Shared' area and change the installation directory.
After finishing your selections, click 'Continue' or 'Next' and the installation will begin. The installer will prompt you which disks to insert next.
