Installing different versions of the same Native Instruments application on one computer

Installing different major versions of the same program (e.g. KONTAKT 4 and KONTAKT 5)
While a minor product update (e.g. KONTAKT 5.0.0 to KONTAKT 5.0.1) will automatically replace any older existing program version, different major versions like KONTAKT 4 and KONTAKT 5 can coexist on the same computer. They are treated as different programs and therefore do not depend on each other. This means, you don't have to install KONTAKT 4 on your computer before you can install the KONTAKT 5 update, and on the other hand the installation of the KONTAKT 5 update will not interfere with or change an existing KONTAKT 4 installation. This applies for all Native Instruments products.

Note: It is only possible to activate a major program update if an earlier version of the same program is already registered in the same user account.

If you update to a new major version (e.g. from KONTAKT 4 to KONTAKT 5) and want to keep the possibility to load sequencer projects that use the older plugin version, you will have to keep this older installation on your computer - older plugin versions within a sequencer project will NOT automatically be replaced by newer versions.

Installing different program flavors from the same generation (e.g. KONTAKT 5 PLAYER and the KONTAKT 5 full version)
It is not possible to install different program flavors from the same generation (e.g. KONTAKT 5 PLAYER and the KONTAKT 5 full version) on one computer. If you want to install an upgrade for a program that is installed on your computer, proceed as follows:

1. Make sure that the latest Service Center version is installed on your computer. You can download it from the website linked below:

2. Install the product upgrade. It will automatically replace the smaller program version.

3. If you start the application and the smaller program version is still being loaded, open the Service Center, open the Overview area and click on the Upgrade button for the application you just installed the upgrade for (see screenshot). This will open the Activate page of the SERVICE CENTER with a form to fill in your upgrade serial number.
