BLOCKS 1.3 – KODIAK

The Blocks 1.3 update introduces a new family of Blocks: Kodiak. These five forward-thinking blocks – two innovative sequencers, one oscillator, a morphing filter, and an experimental noise generator – are not modeled on specific hardware. Instead, Kodiak modules combine analog character with digital power.

The update also includes five ensemble patches, delivering five creative synths – with 195+ inspirational presets between them – showcasing the analog soul and digital brain of the Kodiak family.

KODIAK

DUALITY OSC

A powerful wave-shaping dual oscillator offering phase, frequency, amplitude, and timbre modulation. Ideal for growling basses, vibrant leads, and rich percussion.

SHIFT SEQUENCER

With independent sequence-length and direction controls for pitch, octave, velocity, hold, and gate, this unconventional step sequencer makes polyrhythmic sequencing easy.

CURVE SEQUENCER

Unashamedly inspired by MASSIVE’s Performer, Curve Sequencer offers complex stepped modulation – perfect for electronic music styles.

MORPH FILTER

An instantly loveable resonant filter bank designed to morph between settings for vowel sounds, chords, or pinged percussion. Perfect for making anything sound like daft funk.

FLIP GEN

A versatile tone generator and noise source that’s great for bleepy sequences, bell-like FM, morse, pitched noise, crackly textures, and more.

BENTO BOX

Bento Box Blocks are an all-purpose set of modules that include the core components of a modular synth setup. Each offers extra twists that open the modules to more advanced applications.

BENTO BOX OSC

A versatile oscillator suitable for a wide range of synthesis methods. It features a Thru-Zero FM mode for super deep and stable FM sounds.

BENTO BOX SVF

A clean and controllable multi-mode filter, based on the state variable filter design. It includes low pass, high pass, and band pass filter modes.

BENTO BOX VCA

The Bento Box VCA is a simple volume control. As one of the basic building blocks in modular synthesis, it is used whenever the level of a signal needs to be controlled dynamically.

BENTO BOX MIX

The Bento Box Mix is a straight-forward mixer that can be used for any basic mixing task within a patch such as mixing multiple oscillators or creating feedback loops.

BENTO BOX ENV

The Bento Box ENV is a versatile envelope generator with four stages: ATTACK, DECAY, SUSTAIN, and RELEASE. Each stage can be individually switched to linear, logarithmic, and exponential shapes.

BENTO BOX LFO

A full-featured low frequency oscillator. Its straight-forward interface allows quick, basic modulation tasks, but also offers advanced features for creating complex modulation signals.

BENTO BOX CVP

Offers a useful set of functions for processing modulation signals. Use it to condition modulation signals for specific purposes, or to create additional versions of existing modulation signals in a patch.

BENTO BOX S&H

Provides a sample and hold function – a basic operation in modular synthesis – that allows any signal to be converted into a stepped sequence of values rhythmically locked to incoming gates.

BENTO BOX 8 STEPS

A fully-featured step sequencer for controlling rhythm and pitch. All global parameters can be modulated, making this an incredibly powerful tool for creating complex and evolving sequences.

BENTO BOX XFADE

Bento Box Xfade allows you to create a blend between two input signals. Use it to smoothly morph from one sound to the other, combine waveform outputs from oscillators, or as a simple wet/dry control.

BENTO BOX 4 MODS

Bento Box 4 Mods provides four sequences for modulation purposes. Each sequence consists of a set of 8 freely adjustable values, with selectable glide for smooth transitions between steps – a powerful tool for creating complex and evolving sequences.

WEST COAST

West Coast Blocks are inspired by Don Buchla’s unconventional and playful approach to synthesis.

WEST COAST DWG

The West Coast DWG combines two oscillators and additional waveshaping with extensive internal modulation possibilities, allowing you to playfully explore complex timbres.

WEST COAST LPG

The West Coast LPG is a combination of a low pass filter and a VCA. It is designed to control the dynamic properties of a sound, giving it the quality of a drum hit or a plucked string.

WEST COAST CFG

The West Coast CFG can be used as the central modulation hub of a patch, providing modulation signals that can be triggered independently, in relation to one another, or by themselves for self-cycling operation.

WEST COAST XYS

The West Coast XYS can be used for generating complex modulation and gate signals, as well as note sequences. Even though it can be used as a basic 16 step sequencer, the XYS excels at creating evolving patterns and constantly shifting sequences.

Boutique Blocks take inspiration from the great synths of the past, bringing the best of the rich history of synthesis to Blocks.

OSC BANK

Inspired by organs and synthesizers from the 70s. OSC Bank allows multiple waveforms at different octaves and harmonic intervals to be blended to form an organic sounding mix with a vintage vibe.

MULTIWAVE OSC

Adapting the oscillator section of a classic synth renowned for its bass sounds, Multiwave OSC allows you to mix four waveforms together for interesting combinations using the faders on the panel.

DUAL TSK FILTER

Based on the Sallen-Key filter topology, as used in a classic semi-modular monophonic synthesizer from the late 70s. It features a 6 dB/Oct high pass filter and a 12 dB/Oct low pass filter connected in series.

MODERN

Modern Blocks are state-of-the-art-modules with a contemporary twist. They represent the latest developments in the modular world, showcasing specific functions that are out of the ordinary.

MODERN COMB

The Modern Comb creates interesting filtering effects, but can also be used to create flangers, chorus, or physical modelling sounds.

MODERN PAUL

A smooth-sounding low-pass filter, adapting the filter design of early polyphonic analog synthesizers. Its resonance behavior has been optimized to provide a warm and full sound.

DIGILOG

Digilog Blocks are utilities used to create complex rhythms, process notes, and provide structure in patches. They do not generate any sound on their own.

DIGILOG CLK DIV

Provides six user-definable timing divisions of any gate signal for further distribution in a patch. Run sequencers at different but related speeds, or to set up complex rhythmical structures within a patch.

DIGILOG QUANTIZER

Converts any signal into a stepped sequence of pitches for use with Pitch inputs. It automatically maps the input values to a user-definable set of notes, making it possible to set custom scales.

NI ALL-STARS

Create your own custom synth using the finest NI components. NI All-Star Blocks are single rack-style modules from some of the most legendary Native Instruments professional synths.

MONARK OSC

Modeled after the oscillators of an iconic 70s monophonic synthesizer, the MONARK OSC captures every nuance of the original circuit, including all the inaccuracies that give it its distinctive sound.

MONARK FILTER

The MONARK filter authentically recreates the behavior of the original circuit, including its rich saturation.

MONARK ENV

Perfectly captures the envelope section of this classic monosynth, including the unique behavior of both envelopes used in the original instrument. Great for punchy basses and leads, and snappy percussion.

DRIVER

A smooth filter section provides a colorful palette of sounds. The distortion and audio modulation sections make DRIVER capable of everything from light saturation to complete destruction.

ROUNDS REVERB

The ROUNDS Reverb is based on a feedback delay network with eight delay taps. It can produce a wide range of effects: from big, deep and cloudy halls to small, resonant rooms or grainy delays.

ROUNDS DELAY

The ROUNDS Delay can produce a wide range of different echo, flanging and chorus effects. It offers both stereo ping pong as well as synced delay modes.

ROUNDS LFO

The ROUNDS LFO lets you synchronize the LFO externally to REAKTOR’s master tempo or internally to a sequence of gates in a Blocks patch. For locking modulation signals to the beat of your music.

UTIL

Util – short for Utility – Blocks are the modules that help make larger patches possible. Like Digilog Blocks, they don’t generate sound on their own, but make the entire world of Blocks possible.

UTIL CV MIXER 4

A specialized mixer for processing modulation signals. All four channels and the master section feature a versatile control slider configurable as a standard bipolar level control or a special range control.

UTIL MIX 4

A stereo four channel mixer, offering volume control and panning including level metering, with additional switches for mute and mono summing. Aux inputs let you chain multiple instances to create larger mixers.

UTIL MONO LEVEL

A mono volume control including level metering, with switches for mute and phase inversion. Use it as the last Block before an output port or to monitor and control signals at any point in a patch.

UTIL STEREO LEVEL

A stereo volume control including metering, with switches for mute, mono summing and phase inversion. Use it as the last Block before the main outs or to monitor and control signals at any point in a patch.

UTIL CLOCK

Provides a basic clock signal that can be used to run sequencing modules. You can also add more groove to the clock by turning up SHUFFLE, or synchronize all your sequencers with the RESET function.

UTIL NOTE IN

Converts MIDI note data into control signals. Allows you to control the pitch of oscillators, trigger envelopes with note on messages, and modulate parameters with the modulation wheel or after touch.

UTIL TRIGGER IN

The Trig In receives MIDI note data and converts it into gate signals for use in a patch. Allows you to intuitively trigger multiple envelopes and reset sequencers or LFOs from the same MIDI controller.

SCOPE

Allows you to monitor any signal in a patch. It shows how signals change over time. Visualize modulation signals or waveforms from oscillators, and watch them evolve as you add modulation and processing.

MACRO KNOBS

Macro Knobs provides four knobs that can be connected to any modulation input in a patch, allowing for central control of multiple parameters. Useful for creating controller mappings, distributing host automation data, as well as managing modulation signals.

MACRO SWITCHES

Macro Switches provides four buttons that can be connected to any modulation input in a patch, allowing for central control of multiple parameters. Useful for creating controller mappings, distributing host automation data, as well as managing modulation signals in a patch.

PITCH CV OUT

Send pitch CV and Gate signals to external hardware. Convenient auto-calibration tunes oscillators and calibrates the pitch CV signal that gets sent out of REAKTOR via your DC-coupled converter. Calibration can be saved per snapshot.

GATES AND TRIGGERS

Generate up to four gates and triggers from incoming signals. Perfect for pinging filters, triggering function generators and envelopes, clocking sequencers and much more. Connect external modular gear or use them internally in your Blocks patches.

MIDI OUT

This dedicated Blocks module sends MIDI out to external gear. It converts Pitch and Gate information from any Blocks patch into MIDI signals. The module also functions as a four-channel CV to MIDI CC converter.
