OMega 3 is a collection of Reaktor instruments forming an experimental music studio. It can be used as a synthesizer, but I use it to make self-playing sounds, mostly appealing to my sense of the peculiar. There are 30 sample snapshots of that type in the demo playlist on the User Library panel in the upper right to give you an idea of the types of sounds it can produce.
It has evolved over the last decade and grown as my personal computer has gotten more powerful to accommodate it. If you don't have a recent computer, you probably won't be able to use it very effectively, but you can strip it for parts. I believe you will probably need about a 4.3 GHz single core sustained speed or thereabouts to play this at 48 kHz, otherwise you will probably have to settle for a 24 kHz sample rate or mute some non-essential parts.
To start, you need to play the Reaktor clock at some tempo. Two yellow lights warn about this if the clock is off.
The top ensemble is called 'Ens-OMega 3' and has mostly the output L/R scopes, phase scope, FFT spectrum and some high-level controls. It also has a random snapshot chooser which picks a snapshot at random and plays it for a while and then moves on. That is because most of these instruments are, or can be, self-playing. Here are the instruments in the collection:
1) OMega 3 ensemble. The top level.
2) OMega 3 synth - the synthesizer proper. It has 10 oscillators, 20 filters, 20 effects, etc. Each is unique.
3) Morse-Thue sequencer - this is a fractal MIDI note generator that I use to test sounds and drive the self-play parts.
4) Oblique Strategies - from the deck of cards from Brian Eno. It has over 100 short zen-like statements to aid in removing creative blocks. Mouse click Brian's head to get a card. Brian speaks to you occasionally.
5) Mastering Limiter - an 8x oversampling output limiter to prevent clipping. By Guenther Fleischmann.
6) Final Processor - DC output removal and noise dithering of the digital output. By Guenther Fleischmann.
7) Samples - OMega 3 synth has no sample playback, this instrument connects to the external input of OMega 3 and allows a sampler and granular sampler playback of sample maps. Several sample maps are included.
8) rachToys - a top-level instrument I made to control 4 effects from 'rachMiel' - Rick Scott. It can randomly choose one of the 4 effects to process the output of OMega 3 synth.
9-12) g'Litch v5; g'LitchToo; sparDelay v4; and spektreDelay are the 4 rachToys - each has a special sound effect which may be continuously randomized at various rates, if desired.
13) Blue Grains - modified Orange Grains from Reaktor UL The processing order of Blue Grains and rachToys may be reversed.
14) Superformula Delay Bank- a fancy (cpu intensive) delay effect that may be used as an insert in OMega 3 synth.
15) SpaceMaster - the classic reverb from the Reaktor library - the last in the ensemble effect chain.
There are about 2400 VST controllable parameters (Reaktor Panel elements).
If you are having CPU problems, you can MUTE, bypass, or remove these: Mastering Limiter, Final Processor, the Superformula instrument, and a few other parts like some of the rachToys. You can also lower the Control Rate and/or Sample Rate.
The GUI is very large: 3440x1440 (HD ultra-wide) - that is as small as I can make it.
I doubt that you can play this on any laptop, since the CPU consumes over 100 watts running on my system.
You should not enable automatic panel layout or you will destroy the GUI setup and make a mess. The layout is saved in panel sets in case you make that mistake.
This is composed of Reaktor parts from many authors, all are credited inside and below.
There are a large number of snapshots for every instrument. I made most of them including all the sample maps.
Thomas Medes worked on parts of OMega version 1 and contributed some snapshots. Paule also has contributed some morphed snapshots.
The macros are well documented with smart defaults on panel elements. OMega 3 synth View B shows the architecture. Some other instruments also have expanded B views selectable by their header.
This will be challenging to use, and you will have to be patient if you plan to build with this. But it can entertain immensely while you 'shelter-in-place'. Many of the snapshots were named in 'honor' of our current global problem.

A note on CPU utilization and the user experience:
Some of the snapshots have a number from 01 to 99 preceding the name. This is a load factor that I calculated. You can sort snapshots by name and see where in that range you start to see issues and avoid snapshots outside that range.
I test this in many ways. I frequently run it overnight with the 3 random snapshot tools switching snapshots at the highest speeds. There are sometimes NANs but that is rare and I can't figure the few remaining ones origin, but I suspect the Primary Bandpass filters in some modules. I also run a program called 'Folding@home' all the time - night and day - on my desktop computer. While that is running on 'Heavy' load, I occasionally get a few audio glitches on some of the most severe snapshots. But if I set it to 'Medium' I don't see any glitches on any snapshots.
I'm sorry that this is available only in 3440x1440 graphics mode, but I can't make it any smaller.
I find this very amusing and I hope you will, too. But if you can't run it on your gear, you can remove many parts to simplify it or save this and leave it around for salvaging macros, instruments and ideas.
