DESCRIPTION

Drum with harmonics computed from chladni's formula - c(m+2n)^2

Started off as a modification of the snare in rhythmmaker (electronic ins vol 1.) It is a monophonic instrument but is internally poly. 1 voice per harmonic. The main thing is the way the frequency of the harmonics are calculated. Each voice has an M and an N value. N represents the concentric drum modes and M is the radial modes. The lowest frequency is 0,1 -> no radial mode, 1 concentric mode. This ens is by no means finished - just wanted to get it uploaded as I've never seen this sort of synthesis method before. Please can any brain help to make this a real quality ens i.e - help maybe with an event table for amp,Attack and decay parameters as the way ive done it wont save the params in the snap. Its a cpu eater - there was a short period at the start of each hit which was not generated correctly even with large attack times but i found there was a cpu spike there - increased soundcard latency fixed this. this has 210 voices initially but of course can be reduced. This ens can be optimised to a good extent cpu wise i think. There is only 2 audio modules in here - one osc and one envelope, the rest if for frequency calculation, amp, a and d. Needs more work though. Any comments/help is much appreciated.

Yes, 2 snaps on bank 2 and 35 in bank one. 209 vc & 88.2 kHz needs 11%

Love it, especially driven with a good monome patch :-)

phil do yourself a favor and buy a new computer.....it "only" eat 40% cpu here on my 2.5 years old pc.....i dont think the 200 voices were ecxessives.

I replaced the parabolic oscillators by bandpass filters with high resonance. It sounds better and is cheaper in calculation cost.

please people, when you upload something, please CLOSE all the structure panels BEFORE uploading. ok, i really do not see the point of combining a sample rate or 88200 with a 209 Voice yes a 209 voice instrument. you know, as uploaded there is no way this will work on a mac and i would suggest most pcs. so i closed all the panels and reduced the sample rate and voices to 12 yes 12. and yes i did get some sound. and yes you can get some interesting "FM" sounding metallic percussion sounds. but there are only 2 snaps. i am sure that hidden away in this is a useful device. but please make it a bit easier for us people who have not got a clue what chladni'e formula is but like expereimental reaktor ens.

Sorry Barry doesn't work on my Mac/9.2/665/G4. The sample rate is set to a massive 88200 on loading with all the windows open, stalling my computer and a massage says' cannot process GUI'. I've tried lowering the rate and closing the window and re-saving but it doesn't work.

Yet another Phys-Mod'ling synth that doesn't work on my G4/OSX...at least it doesn't crash; just can't get a peep out of it. Acoustring takes R4.0.3 out like a mosquito zapper...GRRRRR!
