Chladnidrum
Drum based on Chladni's formula
DESCRIPTION
Drum with harmonics computed from chladni's formula - c(m+2n)^2
Started off as a modification of the snare in rhythmmaker (electronic ins vol 1.) It is a monophonic instrument but is internally poly. 1 voice per harmonic. The main thing is the way the frequency of the harmonics are calculated. Each voice has an M and an N value. N represents the concentric drum modes and M is the radial modes. The lowest frequency is 0,1 -> no radial mode, 1 concentric mode. This ens is by no means finished - just wanted to get it uploaded as I've never seen this sort of synthesis method before. Please can any brain help to make this a real quality ens i.e - help maybe with an event table for amp,Attack and decay parameters as the way ive done it wont save the params in the snap. Its a cpu eater - there was a short period at the start of each hit which was not generated correctly even with large attack times but i found there was a cpu spike there - increased soundcard latency fixed this. this has 210 voices initially but of course can be reduced. This ens can be optimised to a good extent cpu wise i think. There is only 2 audio modules in here - one osc and one envelope, the rest if for frequency calculation, amp, a and d. Needs more work though. Any comments/help is much appreciated.
