This is a core cell that implements polyphonic (or monophonic) fingered constant-time linear portamento.

Portamento is applied only between legato notes (the fingered part). The slide from one note to another is linear, not logarithmic, yet always takes the same amount of time (the constant-time linear part).

The core cell requires polyphonic and monophonic pitch and gate inputs, along with a portamento time (in seconds).

To turn portamento off, set the portamento time to zero.

It's packaged in a little test ensemble with a sawtooth oscillator so that it can be demonstrated.

Brilliant. This is what I've always wanted without knowing it's what I always wanted.

Raphael, I've uploaded an update which does this. The portamento time is now latched by the note's gate, so that if you set the portamento time down to zero, new notes will have no portamento while existing notes will continue to glide.

Very nice. You know what might be cool? If a pedal sustain message enabled you to play new notes without the portamento - that way you could choose to introduce new notes either via portamento or not, and over chords or not, if that makes sense. Could enable some interesitng performance possibilities..
