DESCRIPTION

An envelope follower is used to track amplitude change of the audio input, then transmitted as MIDI CC, and IC source that can be used to control knobs or sliders.

v1.1 : added invert mode and a simple square root function to achieve the GM spec recommendation.
v1.2 : added 14 bit CC transmission option. Please read the tooltips carefully before activating the option.

this is and voice to keys combined are giving me so many choices to make mi sax sound very different. Thank you very much for your outstanding work

Thanks for the 10 rate, really appreciate it :) I'm really surprised to know that the instrument can do much more than simply controlling volume or such, which is actually the original purpose of this instrument :D

Can be used to feed CC's into snapshots fader by Simon Klapper which works with many .ens. This is not perfect but I gave 10 :)

VERY much sense and very good results with many not-too-conventional ensembles; this seems to work quite well as sort of generative bpm sync! The sync is never (and cannot be) exact.

@ Kimmo Kivelä : sounds like fun :D If anyone thinks RPN and NRPN is also needed, i can insert the option too, just let me know ;) Also, if the current 14 bit option is not correct (for example, wrong ordering or too many unnecessary same value MSB is sent), please let me know as well :)

Got it working with Random step Shifter just "using no brains". Quite interesting, it seems to make sense...

@ pedro : i think i completely misunderstood about the 14 bit CC, i thought the CC's are transmitted with different format than the standard MIDI messages :blush after googling, now i know 14 bit is possible, i'll try to include the option ASAP ;)

hi pedro :) i'm afraid i can't do anything about it, as reaktor only supports 7 bit CC's as far as i know... sorry :( btw, i just updated VoiceKeys few minutes ago, be sure to check it out ;)

Hi Bertrand... can you add the possibility to send 14 bit CCs [obviously besides PB]?... for example, CC2's [breath Ctrl] MSB + its LSB, CC34? I would like to explore the sonic response of higher resolution CCs on my Logic plugins [Logic DOES recognize 14 bit CC messages]... Thanks so much!! [unfortunately I'm not technically good yet @ Reaktor... I don't know yet how to modify your fantastic instruments...]

wow, it's really nice to hear that you've got very satisfiying results Pedro ! Yes, the reason i made this ins is because i kept thinkin how to emulate breath controllers with just blowing into a microphone :lol so i figure it should be nice to have an instument that converts amplitude only (without the pitch) to MIDI CC's :D

Hi Bertrand... I GOT IT TO WORK! I simply turned ON the IAC driver [the Mac inter-application MIDI bus] in Reaktor's MIDI assignment window, sending then both MIDI Note On/OFFs (from your Voice2KEYS) & MIDI volume [CC7, from your AmpToCC] PLAYING ANY plugins I HAVE in Logic [ALL OF LOGIC'S, ZEBRA, NI's, ETC...]... THIS IS SPOOKY GOOD!!! The amazing thing is that I can even play non-wind Synth sounds [these are a whole other paradigm from 'normal' keyboard-oriented sounds] due to your AmpToCC [sending Midi Volume]... ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!! Now I just need to find a way to customize more both ensembles to be more solid detecting my electric flute signal... ANYHOW, THANKS FOR AN AMAZING PIECE OF WORK!!! DIX MILLE FOIS BRAVO, BERTRAND!!! MERCI!!! CHAPEAU!!! QDTB!!

I definitely don't mind at all, in fact i'm happy that you find my stuff useful :) cheers !! @ Jean-Pierre DEVIN : glad you like it :) @ Pedro Eustache : unfortunately, that has something to do with MIDI routing in Logic... and i really don't know how because i don't use logic :( i guess the best way might be starting a thread at the forum, i'm sure there's a lot of experienced Logic user that can help you with the issue :)

Hi Bertran... Pretty amazing work!!!! Yet, please, excuse my ignorance: I tried to combine both your Voice2KEYS II & AmpToCC in Logic 9 to turn my wind instruments produced audio-signal into MIDI controllers to PALY other Logic software Instruments plugins, unsuccessfully... I 'called' them into a Software Instrument first [& they work! they react to my audio input]... but then I have no idea how to send their MIDI info INTO other plugins in other Software Instruments Tracks... any help is appreciated & again, sorry for my lack of knowledge... Thanks so much for this beautiful modules...

Thanks for the comment ! I keep thinking how to 'safely' turn an audio into a controller, so i think the best way is provide it with an actual knob to check how the response will be, especially when sending to something like a volume knob, that can be potentially damaging..

Very user friendly utility. Easy to adjust response watching the "Dummy knob" reacting to the envelope.
