Reaktor 6
Instrument Other

DESCRIPTION

Animated spirograph style plotter. Just for fun - no audio.

IMPORTANT: this only works properly at 192Khz. (If this is too much for your cpu, I can post a lower quality version, but only if there is enough demand)

-------------------------------
Version 2 takes advantage of some of the new features of Reaktor 6.0.4
It also has an updated colour handling system for more crazy colour effects.

Yes, that's pretty cool. It looks like you were also 'playing' it manually? - changing patches etc... Ideally I want a setup where it is as interesting or better, but with no input required. Half way there already, 'just' need a good tempo detect. Great job though, nice to see what you are doing with it. Thanks.

I've had a few attempts at making it 'audio reactive'. So far none that I feel is good enough. Will continue working on it though. FWIW, I don't like modulating the gain by incoming audio amplitude - there are better options IMO. The thing that is most needed though is real-time tempo detection. Various options for that, but all very complex and difficult, particularly in Reaktor.

Thanks Colin for the history. Do you remember the n-factor? https://www.native-instruments.com/forum/threads/snapshot-family-tree-for-colbs-snap-breeder.225165/

Here's the forum thread that started it: https://www.native-instruments.com/forum/threads/random-banks-of-snapshots-instantly.194484/

The original spark came from a forum discussion where someone was asking about how to generate banks of random snapshots. I thought that wouldn't work very well - pure random rarely does in my experience - but I've been interested in genetic algorithms for many years and I realised that the functionality of the snapshot module made a simplified genetic approach a possibility. It's pretty basic, and quite restricted by the limited functionality of the snapshot module, but it still works OK.

Colin, do you got the breeder idea from Green Oak's Crystal?

Yes, it's the same thing. It was developed partly in spirodaft, and I changed the name to something more normal before I uploaded it.

30% in high res 192kHz and a good looking eye catcher, skrewing on all knobs and press switches. Thank you Colin. Is the CousinDupreesSkeevy different to the breeder? No snapshot uploading by me - it's to easy!
