SONGWRITING MASCHINE

MASCHINE is the 21st century instrument for computer-based music production. Its hands-on, creativity-focused workflow makes it the tool of choice for pros. This video gives you an intimate look at how Maroon 5 crafted their song Fortune Teller with MASCHINE.

FORTUNE TELLING

Maroon 5 recorded their song Fortune Teller in L.A.’s famous Conway Studios. Guitarist James Valentine created Fortune Teller’s distinctive bassline and beat entirely in MASCHINE – while sitting in the studio’s waiting room! With a huge feature set for songwriters, MASCHINE has become a key instrument in Maroon 5’s toolbox.

SUBSTITUTE BAND

In the video, Valentine explains how MASCHINE’s intuitive songwriting and production features brought Fortune Teller together quickly and easily. For a band coming from a traditional instrumental background, MASCHINE’s creative toolset and playability contribute to all elements of the songwriting process – from initial spark to final mix.

CHOOSE SOUNDS

The MASCHINE Factory Library comes with 8 GB of sounds from drums and guitars to keys and synths – all mix-ready, right out of the box. And over 30 MASCHINE Expansions let you add even more flavor to your sonic spice rack with a huge variety of additional sounds.

SHAPE YOUR IDEAS

Sidechaining is a key music production technique that adds a more lively, rhythmically dynamic feeling to any track. Sidechaining is built right into Maschine, and it's one of the key elements of Fortune Teller's rhythmic foundation.

DRAG AND DROP

Take your ideas straight from MASCHINE into DAWs like Pro Tools, Logic Pro, and Abelton Live with a simple mouse swipe. Once James was done sketching the track out in MASCHINE, he handed the stems over to producer Noah Passovoy using MASCHINE’s easy drag and drop function. Just click and hold the pattern and drag it into your DAW arrangement.

BRING IT TO THE STAGE

MASCHINE also excels on stage. Maroon 5 guitar / electronics player Sam Farrar chops up recorded samples live and performs them in real time on MASCHINE. Let MASCHINE accompany you on stage, too – perform your music with the same tool you used to write it.

MAROON 5 ON SPOTIFY

Listen to Maroon 5 tracks – some written and produced using MASCHINE – including the track in the video, Fortune Teller, plus Tickets, and Ladykiller – all on their album ‘Overexposed’.

THE WORLD OF MASCHINE

The MASCHINE hardware comes in three sizes – the flagship MASCHINE STUDIO, the original MASCHINE, and MASCHINE MIKRO. They all use the same software to take your ideas from start to finish in record time. From budding songwriters to the biggest name producers, the perfect MASCHINE for any size studio or project is already waiting for you.
