MotionClusters+? dpc bank ver4
Bunch'a'snaps plus some tweaks for this fabulous thing!!
DESCRIPTION
MotionClusters is one of the coolest MIDI-note-gen devices I've ever seen, here or anywhere, thank you santiago vilanova!
I've been saving snaps for the last couple of days, puzzling over basically everything in it, totally gave up on the "cluster" option (huh?!—cpu overs galore!—OK, next!), finally reset the voices to 24, and the Notes Trans knob to go from -60 to 12 since I was always having to turn it all the way down to get anything like a reasonable note range to my ears and it didn't seem to go low enough to suit me, no doubt because of some profound misunderstandings…but what the hay, I liked it better. And wow, do I like it!! UmmUmm-gooood!
So here's my snaps inside my messed-with version of the ens., fwiw—I made them all with SteamPipe on Snap 17: Harp, btw, then ran through all the other SteamPipe snaps making slight tweaks so they all seemed to work with MC reasonably well (shortened attacks, etc.). But I also had great fun turning SP off and plugins on in Logic, capturing MIDI files and making a great racket, no new settings required, since I always keep IAC turned on in Reaktor…wow; just great stuff, thanks again! I REALLY hope some other folks send up some snaps, too, or start some discussion; I'm sure I've only scratched the surface…and I repeat: have basically NO idea what's going on inside here…like why the transposing occurs in steps in many cases when switching to a new snap, or why it matters SO much to what the snap sounds like when you switch to it, which snap you switched from, and where in pitch that one was when you switched…or why saving a snap so often dramatically changes how it sounds; whatever, it's all part of the joy.
Update: just recreated this in R5 for those who mayn't yet have 6, plus included a second bank of snaps made in the interval, much more microscopic, mainly just digging deeper; this one is VERY dependent on, or demo's very clearly, how the snaps change depending on where the previous snap was.
Update 2: Fleshed out the Steampipe bank a bit so it's filled with percussive and plucky sounds that seem suited to MC. Having MC running in the background while twirling knobs in SP is just about perfect.
Update 3: Added Monoliner, some new snaps for both MC and SP, plus a MC bank created when the voice count was set to 6. Try 'em all at any voice count; sometimes they don't work at all when the count is changed, or work when it's changed a little, etc. There's some differences between turning off the clock and just turning off the Gate or Pitch on Monoliner, that's why I added the switches. The best part of Monoliner is the consistent transposition results, and how well adjusting the master Pitch Gate and Vel knobs work when patterns are rolling along. Personally, I've recently found the best use of MC is when set to a single snap or maybe two or three, rather than changing snaps all the time, instead making all changes with various panel knobs, esp. the AM synth controls, while recording; wonderful!
