Snaps > sebastien ricolfi's cool LFO-based matrix-mod synth
DESCRIPTION
The other day I was searching the UL for LFOs, and stumbled upon this, here: http://tinyurl.com/gudf6ml, and loved it. It comes with no snaps and not even an ensemble, just two versions as .ism files, and a bunch of comments about how it ought to have snaps and more envelops, too. So I slapped it into a new Ens, and started tinkering, aimlessly at first, then with more purpose as it's really interesting… Soon I defaulted most everything, then later started messing with the Randomize function in the snap panel, and before long, noticed that with the factor set at 50 or below, the mod matrix doesn't change, but above 50 it does…! But it's quite amazing what you can find without changing the matrix. I added the factory Effect Anima at one point, thinking it would be a good match, liked that quite a bit, but I was still at the no-distractions stage, so ditched that eventually. But this thing is surely ready to explore with the right FX…Molekular?
Anyway, here's my snaps, along with the ens I'd made, simply because, after another while I noticed that I was unable to save snaps to the instrument level, only at the Master level, which I'd been doing sort of unconsciously from the start. Tried exporting my snaps into the instrument, but they did nothing. Tried saving a new snap to it, noticing that there actually IS a snap in there on the instrument header, just greyed out, and could get it to appear in the bank with Append, etc., but it always DIS-appeared when I'd hit that button the second time. So, I've no idea about why that's all happening, but decided to put up my ens with the snaps where they'd started to reduce confusion. So, you have to either set the snap panel to only see the master Ens -SRI Synt bank, or click the background to re-target that if you have the panel set to follow clicks, which is my default pref. Enjoy!
BTW; I mostly just hold down a few notes when playing this, as the parallel LFO speeds can create very long morphs, and that's how the demo is made: Same two notes held while changing snaps, nothing else changing.
