DESCRIPTION

Requirement :
- Blender 3D
- Glueit or other wise simply use a stitching website like instantsprite.

In this file you will find :
- three 3D files , one for each knob size
- A PDF doc explaining how to customize the knob and render a PNG sequence out of it.

It does not imply 3D modeling but of course if you want to create your own knob in 3D you could start from those templates as they are all set right in terms of pixel precise rendering and have the same light setup as was used to render Blocks knobs.

also important : the boolean object has all 8 holes objects in before boolean with the cylinder. Do not cut 8 holes one by one.

@gentleclockdivider : yes I think I did. Probably first did a pure cylinder with a number of sides that matched the number of holes (8) so it cuts clean with the boolean tool..

@ efflam , did you use boolean to cut the holes in the knob ? It does mess up the geometry

De rien ! Note the pixel sharpness is set for that specific file. If you ever plan to use it for non blocks purposes, the rule is camera should be in orthographic mode, have scale set to 1/10 of the final image largest value. Example : for a 60*60 knob, camera scale is 0.6. for a 25*80 or a 80*33 slider, camera scale is 0.8. This way the blender gird steps match pixels. Also in "scene/film" properties I use 1.2 width to get sharp enough output without looking jittery when animated.
