LFO

DESCRIPTION

An unstable, and potentially dangerous block; for strange modulations and pseudo-musical near-rhythms.

The Morph control mixes signals from two built in LFOs, which can output 8 different wave shapes, depending on the settings of the various switches.

It also has a primary, and core stabilizing features, which should not be touched. If turned off they can introduce noise to the LFO rates, or even cause the Morph control to malfunction, so please use extreme caution not to power them down!

Due to the other-worldly nature of this block, it might take some practice to get any real use out of it. To help you get started, there are 100 snapshots included. The first 8 of these give the "codes" to each of the 8 basic waveforms, so they can be used for reference, or as starting points for your own patches.

Conversions from alien energy to hertz are already complete, and numerous outputs from each LFO have been added for use with other blocks. Each LFO also has an input for a reset signal, so it can be used with a terrestrial clock divider or similar devices.

Parameters:

•Rate controls for each LFO, painstakingly converted to hertz.

•Morph - Crossfades between the signals of the two LFOs. Morph counter-clockwise to increase the signal of LFO 1, morph clockwise to increase the signal of LFO 2.

•Shapers 1 and 2 - Selects different waveforms for the LFOs. Sine, Triangle, Ramp, Saw, Pulse, and random can be chosen, as well as two unipolar shapes. The possible waves are determined by the position of the Shape Shifter switch.

•Shape Shifter - This switch changes the possible wave shapes for both LFOs at once. Using the Shapers, the Shifter, and the Morph control in conjunction, a total of 8 basic waveforms can be dialed in.

•Core Stabilizer - Numerous processes within the Morph circuit require pink noise for analysis and signal compression.. the Core Stabilizer prevents this noise from bleeding into the LFO's rate controls, and is crucial to the proper functioning of the block.. Under no circumstances should this feature be powered down!

•Primary Stabilizer - This prevents self modulation of the Rate and Morph controls, and should never be disengaged. Doing so could be hazardous to the LFO's core, your sanity, and possibly the space/ time continuum itself...

Outputs:

Main - Be sure to use the main output or the Morph control will have no effect!

LFO1 and LFO2 - Alternate outputs for each LFO, (non-morphing, but still effected by shaper switches.)

One designated output for each of the 8 basic waveforms.

In addition, the pink noise generator has it's own output as well, which is wired before the stabilization circuits and the morpher. This ensures output of the purest noise signal possible.

That is a total of 12 outputs, which makes this module a great source for a variety of quick and dirty modulators.

...I would tell you more, but I think I hear them coming for me...

thank you for creating this! Wish I had the intelect to understand how to make these types of ensembles, nice work!

Just hook it to the A and B Mod inputs of another module, it doesn't make noise on it's own, it's just a modulator. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

erhm .. how do you actually wire it? maybe few words on the description might be helpful for the rookies ;) thankkss!

Try updating it if you got one of the earliest downloads, it has slightly better labeling now. You were right about the shapers by the way. Thanks again!

Amazing Block! Running it to a Scope helps with figure out what exactly the buttons do. Shapers 1 and 2 are these the buttons over the LFO knobs?

Learning to build blocks over the past few weeks has been incredibly fun.. I've barely slept or done anything else! Please let me know if you have any suggestions, for this or my future builds!

Thank you, and I agree!

I wasn't sure that blocks were that big of a feature for Reaktor 6 to hang it's hat on, but the ease with which you can patch blocks together really changes how I use Reaktor. Traditionally if I wanted to stick a sequencer and different LFO options in Monark it would take a few minutes and might not work... I guess that's my long way of saying that blocks are cool and this block is very cool.

This is very similar to Synthesis Technology's E355! Wow bro!
