El Caobo

I am a professional Spanish-English-Spanish interpreter/translator; with experience as a court interpreter in both criminal and civil matters (19th Judicial Circuit Courthouse of Lake and McHenry counties). Some of the more notable interpretations and translations that I have done include:

- Simultaneous interpretations, consecutive interpretations, and sight-translations as needed for defendants and court personnel appearing in felony, misdemeanor, and bond court for the 19th Judicial Circuit, Lake and McHenry Counties, Illinois.

- Simultaneous interpretations, consecutive interpretations and translation services for several attorneys, as well as for two well-established translation companies in Chicago. Types of assignments include criminal and civil trails, arraignments, arbitration hearings, depositions, client interviews, medical examinations, et cetera.

- Translated human resources policies and procedures for Walgreens.

- Translated human resources policies and procedures for the State of Illinois’ Department of Financial Institutions.

- Translated human resources policies and procedures for Vertis Communications. (Kansas City, MO.)

- Translated and edited survey questions based on surveys of prime-time television commercials on ABC, NBC, CBS, Telemundo and Univisión for General Motors Planworks: English to Spanish and Spanish to English.

- Translated the initial language module, English to Spanish, for the Sears’ Gift Registry.

I am also a Spanish teacher, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in the "Teaching of Spanish" from the University of Illinois-Chicago. Seehttp://www.earlhall1.pageout.net/

My primary passion is salsa/mambo music and dance. Of course, I also champion what is known as the cousin of mambo: cha-cha-chá music and dance, as well as the genre of music that is currently surging in popularity: bachata.

I am also an authorized representative of the legendary Fania Records and West Side
Latino/Seeco Records labels (the Latin music equivalent to Motown). In fact, recently, on Fania Records' official website (http://www.fania.com/es/content/dj-el-caobo-get-and-dance), I was honored to be called "...one of the top Salsa dj’s in the world!"

I have traveled to cities across the United States (including the very cradle of salsa: New York City) to share what I affectionately call "salsa de la mata" with clubs filled with very receptive crowds of eager SALSA/MAMBO dancers! 'Salsa de la mata' is a term that I culled from Jesús Pagán's salsa album of that very name. Loosely translated, it means 'grass-roots salsa.'

I host a fully bilingual SALSA/MAMBO radio show from the University of Chicago's radio station, WHPK, 88.5 fm. The University of Chicago is the alma mater of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

I also host a CLASSIC SOUL and R&B radio show from the Illinois Institute of Technology's radio station, WIIT, 88.9 fm.
