Well i would think that unless the former owner personally tells NI to remove the serial from his account they will not likely be very cooperative...
Since the Kore 2 software was also sold and marketed separately without the hardware controller, there should be no reason why it should not run...
To me it implies that if i format the disk all data is gone and then in fact Komplete 8 will not ever work again.
