    Hello everybody,

the first maintenance FM8 update (version 1.0.1) is available for registered users for download through the Service Center download page or the update website.

We recommend downloading and installing the update because some bugs have been fixed.

    Best, Henning

I'd think Massive demo and update should also count :)

Both are available as of today. That'll be posted in the Massive forum in a minute.

    Best, Henning

Thanks Henning - fast work by your developers. Loads fine into Cubase 4 now, so I can really start playing.

    Hi Henning,

Can you tell me whether or not I can expect this update to fix some anomalous CPU spiking I've been experiencing under Logic 7.2.3 on a CD MBP?

Many thanks for the swift updates - encouragement indeed

Still doesn't load on my machine, properly...

Mostly, it crashes Cubase, when there is Battery2 (2!) loaded in another vst-slot already...

updated yesterday and the update seems to work well - I have an AMD DualCore - I included it in a song I'm working on, put it out of the VST List, put it back again and also multiple times in the List - no Cubase Shutdown or hanging ( which occured immediately without the update ) and I allready have lots of VSTI's in that song. I hadn't had much time yesterday to really test all the new features but it seems to be stable. I'm hoping for a Battery3 and Absynth4 Update soon that I can work with the Komplete 4 Bundle!

OK, good, let's hope the following problems are fixed:
    - constant crashes (MacBook Pro 2,16 MHz with 2 G RAM)
    - computer keyboard doesn't send midi notes
    - 128 note MTS (tuning) messages sent from another application not recognized

    I installed the update. And...
    - constant crashes (MacBook Pro 2,16 MHz with 2 G RAM)
There was a crash soon after I started playing the synth - not a system crash as previously, though. Only FM8 had to be restarted, not the computer.
    - computer keyboard doesn't send midi notes
    It still doesn't.
    - 128 note MTS (tuning) messages sent from another application not recognized
    They still aren't.

Can someone confirm whether this bug still appears (carried over from FM-7)?

Make sure in the preferences "USE OF CONTROLLERS FOR SELECTED OP" is checked

Assign continuous controllers to the matrix output levels for Operator A. I used the following assignment using the learn function (going down the left most vertical column):

CC 50 > OP A level (directly above the A operator)
CC 51 > OP B level (directly below the A operator)
    CC 52 > OP C level (2 rectangles below the A operator)
    CC 53 > OP D level
    CC 54 > OP E level
    CC 55 > OP F level
    CC 56 > OP X level
    CC 57 > OP Z level

Select (left click) operator A in the matrix or on the navigator menu on the left hand side of the GUI (A in the matrix should be lit orange)

Notice when changing CC50 it changes how much of OP A is applied to Operator A (feedback). When moving CC 51 it changes how much of operator A is applied to operator B etc. This all works great.

Now change the selected operator(for editing) to B (OP B should be lit orange). Notice that changing CC (50) is NOT changing how much operator B is applied to operator A but how much of operator A is appled to B. This is duplicating what happened when operator A was selected using CC 51. So there is no way to control how much of operator B is appled to operator A.

This is true when any of the other operators (C-Z) are selected. CC 50 always controls how much of operator A is applied to the selected operator.

As a side note in FM-7 there was an aditional similar problem with assigning CCs to turn on/off the operators. The CC that was assigned to turn on/off operator A always turned on/off the selected operator instead. That doesn't happen in FM 8 because there is no CC assigned to turn on/off the operators. While I can see the desire to streamline the interface by eliminating dedicated on/off buttons as in FM-7, I would like to see NI add CC capability to the matrix since you can turn on/off the operators from here with the mouse.

Sorry this was so long - I hope someone cares.

Marky, yep I care, but this goes beyond what you describe. I think the whole midi assignment thing in FM8 is unstable. Some functions are missing (like tuning and op on/offs) and trying to assign others results in unwanted things appearing in the assign list. I've given up trying trying to assign things and sometimes wish I'd never upgraded. :-(

Thanks for the reply LS. I got a response back from NI stating they would forward the problem on to the engineers. Not sure how long it takes for them to look into these kind of things and whether they will fix it at all but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I won't upgrade unless I know I can control FM-8 externally. Of course I doubt that they will fix FM-7.
