    Well, downloading it now.

    Guess it's time to start moaning for the next one now. ;)

    Thanks for letting us know it's there. :)

    317.7 MB! :eek: Is it this large because of included sounds? How about a much smaller file without the sounds?

    Got to have something to moan about. :lol:

    What's New?

    This update provides various improvements and bugfixes:

    * Additional VST FX plugin version
    * Mouse-over parameter value display
    * Optimized parameter scaling
    * LFO & Resochord issues fixed
    * Several other fixes

    The installer also contains about 400 MB of slightly updated MASCHINE Library Content which is directly integrated into your MASCHINE database.

    excited? lmao hell naw... sellin this **** and my mpk49 for a mv8000 and yamaha ks88 key controller... got kore and few ni plugins for my module. F'n joke that midi out isn't available yet. these Ni developers need to get their heads out their @$$&$ and realize the MOST POWERFUL PART of a mpc, mp-7(xl-7), roland mv series, asr-x, etc...(GROOVEBOXES IN GENERAL) is the sequencer's ability to act as the centerpiece for your studio. You all love to ramble about "the beauty of hardware and software integration!, and 'have you used it in midi control mode yet?'" lol... The mv8000 did everything maschine does(ESPECIALLY hardware/software integration, even more with vga out) 6-7 years ago. Maschine is an utter failure. I loved it at first, but once i realized it was nothing but a fun little drum maschine/toy, with no pratical use, I was pissed. Last purchase I'll ever make from you European's.

    541 mb on osx, what's different to the pc download? (Lotuz mentions 317,7 mb, and he's on pc if i remember correctly)

    Also any list of what's new in the factory lib? (fx, kits, sounds, patterns, songs...), and any changes made to the controller editor?

    Dude! :|

    They never advertised it as an MPC clone. It has pads and plays drums, yes. But thats aboout it. You cannot compair them which I see as a mistake often made here.
    You also need to realise what the unit can do. Read the manual or whatever. Experiment a little. Thats all I ahave been doing with it and I think its great. The amount you can do outweighs what you can't do. And more will be added.
    I owned the MPC2000xl and yes it was nice but not without its issues also. This unit is a Groovebox/Software solution. The hint is in the word Groovebox. The MPC range are hardware sequencers. Maybe thats why you think its a toy.

    BTW, nothing wrong with Europeans. Don't start on the racist stuff. No need.

    It makes perfect sense that NI will fix some bugs before they introduce new features. It's better to have piece of gear with limited features that works flawless than a piece of gear loaded with features and bugs.

    The 1.0.3 update took NI two months. I'm hoping they'll release their updates on a regular basis, so let's see what the next update will bring at the end of june. :cool:

    Well 1.0.3... Huuh? What should I say? I don't feel the difference... NI still hasn't changed the big problems that we all have with the Maschine. Sampling is still w@nk, quantising is the same, DAW integration is the same... I can only hope that NI will realize that we need a major change with this product not just some minor fixes...

    Also anyone noticed that loading up kits take more time now? Ohh and the flashing buttons are a bit slower than 1.0.2!:S

    Not much difference...

    UB installers always are larger than their PC equivalents- you need installers for two completely different hardware architectures (PowerPC and Intel x86). And with a Windows machine, while you have both x32 and x64 versions, most PCs these days are x64 compatible as far as mainboard and processor goes.

    The library update is the same that came with the 1.02. It is included in the 1.03 so that you can jump straight from 1.00 to 1.03 without missing something.

    I can see why how/why some people might be a bit miffed. Maschine is absent a few key fundamentals one would expect from a piece of hardware that calls itself "maschine" (as in "drum machine" we can safely presume).

    Read the marketing material. This box was marketed as a "Groove Production Studio" . Compare to Akai's MPC pitch: "Music Production Center." Slightly different angle, same pitch.

    Personally, I think NI should have made Maschine a truly standalone box with full virtual integration... along the lines of what Access and Yamaha have done (Virus, Motif respectively). I would have preferred the ability to take my Maschine on holiday... without mr. laptop in tow. If not that, then I would have liked to seen integration with a DAW .. along the lines of what Akai and Ableton have done (which looks to be quite amazing). Seen this? http://www.akaipro.com/apc40

    Sometimes I wonder if companies like NI talk to their users before they make product decisions like this. I have a funny feeling it will be very challenging for Maschine toi grab market share if they don't expand its features, because people generally sequence one of two ways:

    1. Their favorite soft DAW or
    2. Their favorite hardware DAW

    Now Maschine comes along and asks them to start sequencing with new hardware and new software, but won't let them control their other gear, or quantize beyond a blanket 100% or 50%, or name their patterns for arrangement purposes....

    I think for NI a 2 month dev cycle is way too long at this critical juncture. In my opinion, if they don't address these fundamental shortcomings quickly, Maschine will go the same way the Steinberg Houston did...

    Also, I highly recommend PUBLIC beta testing for the next several releases. And why not do agile development and go with small releases more frequently? All of these things would show NI's commitment to their paying customers and probably make a major difference in the loyalty game at this critical juncture..

    Just looking out for what I think COULD be a killer box

    15 years in software development and counting,

    Mark
