How do I disable the piano sounds that occur whenever I hit a button in 1.2.1? Only have the new version installed a few minutes and the sounds are driving me crazy.

I'm having the same issue (using a Numark Omni Control)..any time I touch anything on the controller, I get a MIDI Piano sound (and each button is a different note ..which is why i'm assuming it's tied into the MIDI piano sound).

Any help on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated...

Hmm... I think you need to tell a bit more... I must say that I've never heard any kind of "piano sounds" with any version of Traktor?

If I were to start throwing around guesses, that sounds like something I remember from Windows, where pressing keyboard might result in a sort of "ping"-sound in case the "focus" is not in any particular window. If this is the case, you will need to change the settings in Windows; "sound and settings" (or something like that) and select "no sounds".... but as said, this is just guessing.

Edit: BeerInn suspicion might be correct too... if there is a program running that accepts MIDI-input and that program's audio output is set to the same interface as Traktor's, this might happen.

Bit more detail....happens on both A/B decks whether in focus or not. Each button seems to play a different note. Happens with both mouse clicks and from my Omni controller. I'm using the soundcard in my PC at the moment (rather than the one built into the Omni).

This is new with the 1.2 update (does not happen in 1.1. I looked everywhere in windows as well. This appears to be a Traktor 1.2/ Numark OmniControl compatability issue to me. If Traktor is not running, there are no MIDI sounds when I press any buttons on the OmniControl.
Also, I run hte setup wizard just to keep it simple ...select Numark in top dropdown and then Omni Control (not LE which it defaults to) in the bottom dropdown ...then click apply.
In the Preferences, there is a new thing at the bottom to configure your controller ..but I can't find anything that stops the sounds.
    So more info as well:
Most buttons have a piano MIDI sound (a certain note is with each button),
The tempo(pitch?) sliders also have a note when you go through the zero/center point. The crossfader doesn't seem to have any sound. Most of the buttons near the top area (for effects and all that stuff) don't seem ot make sounds either.

    Ones that definitelly do:
CUE, Set Cue, PLAY/Pause (main buttons under jog wheel), Loop In, Loop Out, Load Track, Key (not sure about the Pitch Bend keys ...don't ever use them in all honesty). Oh and those are on both sides (A & B if you like ...although the Omni doesn't really say anything like that on it)....and tempo/pitch sliders at center/zero point.
Not sure of every other one ...and I'm at work so this is from memory.

Not to Highjack or change topic of this thread, but I also noticed that 1.2 got VERY confused when trying to play 2 tracks (no matter which side you are faded to or mixing / center faded): It can't deside who's master and keeps switching back and forth between A & B ...a few times per second....maybe Omni Control related too?

    Hopefully that helps.
Again, any help on resolving these issues is greatly appreciated ...i'm back running 1.1 for now....working fine too (just doesn't have the new cool stuff of 1.2).

    Thanks,

    Jeff (BeerInn)

Sorry, forgot to mention that it happens whether setting Omni Control as sound device or computer soundcard (as sound device) when Omni is connected.

If memory serves me correctly, I set the sound to computer card and shutdown, unplugged the Omni and started Traktor again...keyboard/mouse didn't make MIDI sounds (again at work..and it's early, so i might be wrong on this ;) ) ...but i think they were originally when the Omni was plugged in (with 1.2 not 1.1).

in your soundcard control panel (with all the faders in it for volume, mic, line in etc) try muting the one marked MIDI.

sounds to me like the soundcards onboard midi voices are being used, although I still cant work out why mouse clicks produce piano noises....

    curious!

Thanks for the suggestion, trance alba. Unfortunatelly, I already tried that and there isn't anything for MIDI on my choices of soundcards (Omni, SoundBlaster, SoundMAX, or SRS)..at least nothing that I've found (recording devices or playback devices).
Plus, why wouldn't that happen with the 1.1 release (not being a wiseguy)? All settings stay the same, unless Traktor 1.2 modifies something in the registry, 'talks' to the OS differently, or has an incorrect entry somewhere in an ini file (or something like that)

Also...more info: I'm running Windows XP sp2 (or 3..can't remember right now).

Again, Thanks for suggestions and help...

The reason for the piano sounds is most probably that you have set "ALL Ports" as In- and Out-Port on the Controller-Manager page in the Traktor Preferences. This is the default setting after using the setup wizard. To fix this:

    - Open the Traktor Preferences

    - Go to the Controller-Manager tab

    - Select the MIDI template at the top in the "Device" dropdown list

    - Under In-port select the MIDI port where your MIDI controller device is connected.

    - Under Out-Port select either the port for your MIDI controller as well or None.

This should fix the piano sound issue.

    Hope this helps!

OK, that worked me, thanks again.

    New settings:

    In-Port: Numark OMNI CONTROL MIDI
    Out-Port: Numark OMNI CONTROL MIDI

The manual is a bit sparse on this topic IMO with just a one-liner:
In-Port/Out-Port: choose input and output ports for a selected device.

Thanks Marius ....that does get rid of the MIDI piano sounds. Now if I could just get the track searching/browsing feature to work correctly....
