    NI Developers,
Thanks for the rapid update to 1.5.1, but us OSX folks still don't have a fully functioning product. There is a problem with the buffer (DFD enabled) spitting out a chunk of audio after a sample has reached its end. To make Kontakt work the way it should this needs to be addressed ASAP. I send support an email about this but haven't heard anything back yet. Please fix as I love Kontakt but haven't been able to use it sense upgrading to OSX.

What software are you guys running Kontakt in? DP? Logic?

I am running it with Logic 6.3.2, and OS 10.3.1. However, the problem exists in stand alone mode as well.

Does it only happen with DFD enabled?

Yes, because DFD is the only thing that uses buffers. When the entire sample is loaded into memory, this isn't a problem. However, with large orchestral libraries DFD is a must.

Yes, there is a very distinct and noisy "tail" at the end of notes when DFD is enabled--standalone and plug-in--and yes, DFD is absolutely necessary in today's sampling world.

The update also didn't fix the fact that the alleged "multiple outs" are as useless as teats on a boar hog for many of us. In OS X, only two outputs are available.

I still wish somebody would explain to me how programmers and their beta testers can labor for--what was it, over 3 long years since OS X was announced?--and put out a purported "sampler" program with these things so brazenly broken. Considering that the initial OS X release also couldn't read its own conversions if long file names were involved, they could have just as well packaged it as a spreadsheet program. I don't know if anyone would have known the difference.

Maybe that's what they told their beta testers it was.

Levon you always have the best analogies. Seriously though I have not received any news from NI's support. What is it with the trend of bad software these days? Sure it works somewhat, but if the big was some obscure feature that that would be ok, but not basic functionality! Sheesh. How do they beta test these things? Load a patch and say,"cool it works" without ever hitting a key?

    PLEASE FIX THIS!!!

NI! We need a fix! Are you even out there?

    BUMP!

This DFD buffer problem should be top priority, and not new features. You got 1.5.1 out in a hurry, but can't seem to fix a primary function of your product. A seriously doubt you really beta tested this in OSX.

I have sent emails to NI support with absolutely no response. Maybe even an ackowldgement that the problem is reproducable on your end and an ETA to a fix would be something!

    BUMP

Still no reply from NI support. I believe it is 3 weeks now. Also, no response for a windows authorization (I only got the automated response). So I can't even use it on the PC that is built just for it. Has anyone gotten DFD to work at all in OSX?

Not I, said the unhappy camper. For now, an orchestral template is just not feasible using Kontakt in OSX. I've put off Gigastudio for long enough. Perhaps the time has now come.

Chris -- send an e-mail to register@native-instruments.de and explain the situation. They are busy tweaking the authorization system right now (to make it easier for users) so that probably explains why you may not have heard back recently.

I'm using DFD in OS X with only very minor problems -- the little tails occasionally.

NI has confirmed that they've replicated the extra tails in DFD and this will be fixed in an upcoming update. I don't have a release date on this.

Those of you experiencing Giga import anomalies, please check out Martin's thread "CALL for Giga import" where they are soliciting information on what's going wrong Giga-wise so they can improve it.

    Thanks for the update.

With that information and the fact the they are looking into better Giga import, I will leave it on the Mac. I can run it in non DFD mode for now, but I just need to use it with a couple of instruments and have the bulk in EXS.
Hopefully they will fix this soon.
