    no mas...

    Hi!

    A few things here...

First off, you CAN get SD to work with DP (I use v3.01). But it'll cost ya $40US. Go to the TC Works site (www.tcworks.de) and get Spark FX Machine SE. Yeah it's ANOTHER VST shell but I found it will run things that CRASH either VST Wrapper 3 or Pluggo!

SET UP: Aside from Pluggo (if you have it), all your VST plug folders should be in the SYSTEM/EXTENSIONS/MOTU/Plug-Ins folder (like all your MAS plugs). Put the Spektral Delay VST plugs (if you have v1) or the ONE VST plug (v1.5) in its OWN folder there and give it a stupid name like "spark vst plug". The GREAT thing about the FX Machine is that it automatically finds ANY folder that contains VST plug ins, BUT THEY HAVE TO BE IN THAT "Plug-ins" FOLDER! On my set up, I have three VSt folders: one for what VST Wrapper will run, one for what it WON'T run (and what FXM WILL run) and one for Spektral Delay!

The downsides are that FXM cannot display the entire GUI inside its window so you have to do some scrolling and on SOME projects I have noticed some digital audio artifacts (clicking and popping) while dragging the window but not any other time.

The UP side is that the update WILL sync to DP's tempo!

Now then...I think at this stage of the game, EVERYONE is looking at OSX to be the end all of the format conflicts that have plagued both MIDI and AUDIO on the MAC. Dunno IF this will be the utopia everyone leads us to believe but I can see that MAS/FreeMIDI compatability seems to be an afterthought to a LOT of companies (NOT NI soft-synths thankfully!) who are looking at the very near future. I guess we'll all know in a year!

    thanx cp,
I should try the sparx machine. I use VST wrapper 3.0 and it's not that bad... I figure Absynth, B4, Battery, FM7, Reaktor are on mas so why not Spektral...
