    HI

I use Nuendo sx3 on Windows XP sp3 and had already successfully installed Maschine 1.0 software and worked fine so far.

Then I downloaded the 1.5 update and decided to install. At installing process of both Maschine as the new bank I received a warning saying they hadn’t pass through the windows logo test but I ignored and moved on.

I was using the software for a couple of hours and suddenly my system failed and a blue screen appeared saying I could have installed a new software that could have damaged the system, so I should uninstall the software (maschine 1.5), start again the computer and try to restore a previous working environment.

    Questions:

Can I move from 1.0 to 1.5 directly?
Should Maschine be disconnected during update or install process?
What should I do to install Maschine again without bothering windows system?

I think you need 1.1 to goto 1.5.
Maschine controller should defintely NOT be connected during install.. the Installer tells you this.
I'm on XP sp3 and also use Cubase 5 and had no issues updating from 1.1 to 1.5

The not passing Windows validation warning is normal- that's nothing to worry about.

And you want to update to 1.1 first; there's some content there that isn't in the original or 1.5 installers.

    I set my windows to a previous working point and the maschine went back to 1.0 ...I ll try to intall the 1.1 and then the 1.5 ;

It s weird to be told that the windows test fail doesn t matters cause I had this warning twice in my life and in both cases the system crashed seriously..THat s why people say mac osx is more reliable, once the software has no other choice rather than addapt itself to the system, while software under windows modifies the system to work properly..

Anyway, I think the installer should force us to quit the maschine hardware before moving ahead on the installing process. Also it makes no sense to need the 1.1 version to upgrade to the 1.5 . If it ever did sense, also the installer should not run to the 1.5 update without the 1.1 version...

All that warning means is that the company hasn't paid Microsoft to do their validation tests. Since the test :
    1) costs quite a bit, and
    2) has a six month wait (or used to- with XP phasing out, it's probably not quite as long),
you can see why they don't go through certification; they'd be in a hold pattern forever. I've had more problems with signed drivers than unsigned ones to be honest...
    ?

Any installer modifies the system on either platfoirm.
Why? It's stressed in both the manuals and in the first installer window that the hardware needs to be unplugged. What about personal responsibility on the part of the user?
Now that I can agree with.
