This is what I was trying to say all along. This is starting to become a feature request thread when there's a specific place for that.

What hardware synth(s) do you have?

You can use CTRLR, which is free and open source, to control program/bank changes, sysex...etc. of external outboard MIDI hardware from within Maschine.

All parameters of any external MIDI gear can be automated from Maschine standalone via editor plugins. If the gear doesn't already have an editor plugin like Virus TI or Fantom/Motif...etc. than you can download CTRLR editor plugins for your gear that someone has likely already made or just make your own. There's a long list of older synths that already have a CTRLR editor made for them.

@JAH My man! Exactly! Even a 2 year old should've understood this. It's not tht complex at all, but somehow still shot right over their heads.

    @Tom yawn;)

The point of the op was understood, the execution of the post is what lacked.

You are the last person on the planet I would expect to see write about a work around. And this work-around is awful. Any device claiming to be a MIDI sequencer should have program/bank/MIDI channel params up front and center. No workarounds...not additional apps...no plugin editors.

why is peeps so obsessed with midi import?

that like dudes is too lazy to play a pattern so they wanna import some patterns or buy some patterns to use with some presets.

On the contrary, execution was precise and in full effect. My desired result was only to communicate hw sad it was, in my opinion, tht Maschine was updated to v1.8 and still lacks standard basic MIDI functionality. Paradoxical bc it's advertised as a center-piece for the consumers studio. I communicated, you understood, desired result achieved.

I think you missed the point... we are talking about MIDI CC / Program Change / Bank Select in order to control external HARDWARE SYNTHESIZERS AND EFFECTS. :D

The way I see it, the marketing for Maschine was a little misleading. I did a lot of reading up before deciding to buy. I waited until 1.5 was close to release as it promised an enhanced midi workflow including drag and drop.

However it was never really mentioned that this was one way.

I never expected this to be in 1.8 as I asked this question before release and it was stated it was planned for the future as it would involve a rewrite of the system.

Strikes me this was a major oversight if so.

What is most frustrating is that there have been several updates and each time it has been bypassed. There is no timeframe for when or if this will ever be implemented.

For me its not that I want to use other people's beats, but I want to be able to reuse elements of my or other people's loops. Say I Hi-hat groove played by a live drummer, or a component of a fill.

Right now its not possible without a lot of inspiration crushing messing.

Trying to get away without having audio tracks kind of hurts when using external midi gear in standalone if you ask me. Still a little confused about the decision to not have real audio tracks or a real sequencer on the back end like Ableton or Bitwig. Everyone wants it to be a production station but it's a little hard to be a true production station if you handicap it. I don't care if it's a DAW or whatever the hell you want to call it just add all the elements in order to get the job done. You mean to tell me you are going to sample each midi track from your korg, roland, ect. yeah right that would take hella long.

The ommission of Midi CCs on the Midi Outs is something i have never ever seen on any sequencer. No one would expect this behaviour. It is hilarious and a real showstopper if you want to use the Midi Outs.

Luckily i realized this before i bought it. Sadly because i really would like to buy it.
