    Dear fellow R5/NI users,

After more then 20 years of drumming in multiple guitar bands I decided 3 years ago to quit. I tried some photography therapy but that could not supress my musical feelings. I got Logic and recently Reaktor and am experimenting and learning.
Let me please hear your thoughts on 1 of my first tracks and at this stage I don't really care, so let me hear anything what's on your mind. But consider my role models: David Sylvian, Talk Talk ... Alva Noto, Oren Ambarchi.

Many thanks in advance and regards,
    Anthony.

(Phil D., let me hear yours)

Anthony, this is really good track! These notes can be applied to my mood today's evening - my stomach is ill and afraid of tomorrow's flight..:) Thanks for sharing and I want more threads like this. I'm stuck somewhere between past EDM project and future Electronic project.

    Thank you A.,

Let's hope this track will make your stomach ok. I have added 2 more but I am not sure these will have the same result, but I hope so.

Let me know your opinion when you got better and have a good flight.
Maybe when you/we are stuck we can lift each other up by sharing our music...

    Many thanks,
    Anthony.

    Hi aleks,

I don't know much about "dance" music, but this sounds nice.
The mixing could use some work imho. The claps and bass (and especially the vocals) seem a bit to loud. I find it more attractive when all is more subtle. Maybe you will enjoy playing around with it and see what happens?
I am new at fora so I need to play with my way of replying...

    Thanks for sharing,
    Anthony.

Thanks for constructive feedback, Anthony! Yes, I know I need to work on it, but it's just some raw example - ways of searching my new style. I'm in hard times in terms of music - I composed progressive trance, deep house and techno trace before it became too cheesy, so it's quite hard to switch from one field to completely another.

Anyway, you can join out thread as well:

Spencer has some great stuff there!

Yep, I think I know what you mean. Playing drums in alt rock bands did something to me. Luckily I stayed listening to all kinds of music: Arvo Part, Trail of Dead for instance. But since a year I got involved in the Alva Noto, Christian Fennesz, Ambarchi, Siewert, Brandlmayr, Willits thing (what is it called anyway, laptop music) and it completely stole my hart. Maybe some nice and welcome inspiration for you?
Anyway I hope you find a way to enjoy the block and get back with your own music.
I will read the link and probably/hopefully join.

    Cheers,
    Anthony.

Anthony, I really like your songs!

David Sylvian, Talk Talk and Alva Noto are on my list of favorits too  - I guess I have to cheack out Oren Ambarchi... never heard of...

In what way did you use Reaktor in these songs? The piano, I'm guessing is not Reaktor...

yes, i enjoyed the 3 tracks Anthony :)

i would also like to know, which bits were Reaktor.

also you mention Fennesz, for me the second track that features piano could do with having the piano itself treated in a similar Fennesz way. for me it is a bit clean at the moment and could do with some bit reduction/distortion kind of treatment ;)

Thanks Ernest and Zootook. Sylvian is coming with a new album very soon, it's called Manafon.

In the HPoole song I only added the trumpet sounds (Steampipe - 44MW Cry), the beat (Terminal Glitch 2 - 13 Tetsuo) and the noise ( Skrewell - 4 Dragging Bumper), the rest was done in Logic in the first place. Without the R5 addiditions it sounded pretty different, the piano was not quantized and had a totally other feel. The other songs were done completely in Logic, but that's going to change since I am a happy owner of R5 and it's really great supplements.

    Cheers,
    Anthony.

    Hi Sowari,

Please see the above reply for the Reaktor bits.
Thank you for listening and the helpful reply. After listening the track some more I am starting to get the/your picture.
I spent hours on the piano sound and was pretty happy about, but I am going to try what you mentioned ( I leave just the sound as it is and start "messing" it up for starters). That is one of the reasons I posted the song. I will try distortion first but cutting it in tiny pieces and looping them also sounds interresting to me. I am far from mastering those techniques but love to hear what it would sound like.

    Anthony.

You have created your song in Logic Express 8.
I think Fruity Loops are better.
