10 hours straight

Spun a wedding today, started with the ceremony (including pre-ceremony, processionals), loungey cocktail hour music, dinner, dancing, etc etc etc.

Ran the latest beta on both my machines, the Macbook Pro was the primary. Had my Macbook set as a backup, didn't need it. 10 hours of straight music
- no clicks
- no pops
- waveforms spot on
- effects (used sparingly) worked perfectly
- used almost every MIDI assignment just to see if I could; no problems there
- for some reason when I typed Billie Jean into my search field, nothing came up; I had to manually browse for it. Searchd for Michael Jackson (happy belated) and found a wack of tracks including Billie Jean. This also happened with a couple of other tracks whose names I forget since it was a flurry of cleavage and slutty bridesmaid dances.
- autogain and HiQ stretching were both turned on and worked great (limiter left off)

It can be done!

YES! That happens to me also and not even seldom.

It seems as if Traktor only searches on Artist name when you want it to search the whole collection.

So if you type in the name of the song nothing comes up, making you doubt something happened to the track.

I wish NI could elaborate on this.

Ps. This happened to me before as well, as in not BETA versions.

 

Ummmm......NO. You've seen my lady. I wouldn't ditch her even for your (still sexy) semi-tanned azz, mainly cause I prefer the azn sensazns.. Plus all her friends are super hawt so it's like hanging out at an import model convention every time I see them, he he he.

Forgot to add that we put on a total of two slow songs...one at the beginning for the first dance, and one at the end to TRY to end the night. This group really surprised me in its affinity for all things Rihanna, Sean Paul, BEP, Flo Rida, and Lady Gaga. Even gramma with a cane was gettin low low low low low low low low, and one older lady asked me when the oldies set was ending so she could go get her grind on. Disturbing. Slightly hot but disturbing. Also I've never spun a wedding where there were almost 3 girls to every guy on the dancefloor. And that without too much Cyndi Lauper or Madonna. Boy do they love that Rihanna and Sean Paul though.

Back on track: gonna go buy Snow Leopard when the Apple store opens, do a full clean install on this Macbook Pro (which I am typing on) and do a full clean Traktor install, deal with the few sticky tricks people have mentioned on here so far, and hopefully see if I can get this thing rolling for a few hours tonight.

for some reason the search conditions reset to artist.

Maybe it is in conjunction with the sorting of the browser?
I'm sorting very often to Playcount.
When I click on the drop down box in front of the search field, Artist is selected.

It is boring, but it is in my worflow to check that ...

 

@nohiphop: you don't happen to look for "similars" using the magnifying glass -icon? Just asking because this definetly causes the search to limit results to the field you clicked the icon on (which is understandable).

Personally I've had no real problems with the search - only that I'm always unable to find "soulja boy" ... but only because I always write it as "souldja boy" Perhaps NI should implement a soundex-function to the search?

how about a beat filter, anything beneath 120bpm would be wiped from hard disk

@Telly - i took the beta to work last sat, 4hrs, agressive fx use, no search issues tho.. next stop - beta + ableton 8...too riskay?

how about a snob filter to find traks not even found on beatport... then you'd really have an elitist's library rollin...some people HAVE TO play sh!t like soulja boy, we can't all live in ibiza and some of us like to spin music outside of our bedroom

 

Ha ha I'm no Ableton boy, I can barely wrap my weed-addled brain around Traktor as it is. Eventually I'll get into it I guess but my style doesn't really need it.

Yeah, had an issue with Beta 2 at the weekend whereby all our searches were returning negative after 4 letters. Took about 5 minutes and some panicking for our cider addled brains to work out we'd managed to turn some filter on in that drop-down above the search box. Doh!

 

i think i got lucky last weekend with the beta ...which is probably why my dumbass is going to do it again this weekend....are there ANY other issues besides search hick-ups...i mean i can appreciate the panic sensation when you reach for a track with 30sec left on the cut and you get jack in the search bar... but if that is the worst of our problems then it seems like having mixed in key or finder/explorer minimized to a music folder would be a good 'panic button' til 1.2 is fully complete, no?

@telly- ableton is cheating, although some say traktor is cheating, all relative i guess
you should try it if you ever want to make flawless look effortless...i still think ableton heads look ridiculous when they're dancing with the crowd during a track transition...jesus, atleast pretend to move a fader or maybe just look really stoic and concentrate reallly hard on the laptop as the arrangement view does the heavy lifting!
