I thought this would be fun. You are being flown out to Los Angeles to work with Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Drake, Ellie Goulding, Fetty Wap, or Justin Bieber or your favorite techno artist.
They all say you have ten min to make them a track. They are testing you here. In Studio A you have all NI gear which includes Komplete 10 ultimate, maschine studio, komplete kontrol S61, and all the maschine expansions. Then in Studio B you have all akai and in air music vst's. You have mpc ren/touch/akai advance.
-Drake-Wants a seventy's soul vibe track mix with trap drums. He gives me the sample, but wants to me to add strings and other instruments.
-Katy Perry- Wants a club banger with trap and late 80 synths combined.
-Bruno Mars- Found a sample, but wants you to recreate it using live instruments. He wants you to recreate it from scratch. So you have access to his band. The band ask you the key of the sample etc. How would you produce this and arrange this?
    -Ellie Goulding-Wants a techno/pop track.
-Justin Bieber- Wants the latest hottest sounds that are in music. He has been away from music, and wants to know what's the hottest trending sounds
    -Fetty Wap-Trap Beat
-Taylor Swift- She wants you to produce a ballad for her.

Pick two artist here. Explain how you would produce these records with one of the studios. Pick the sounds you use for the artist you choose. What drums do you grab first for the akai set-up? Soundpack names? If your a producer and make music, you should be able to answer this. Go....

It isn´t the soundpack, it is what you make of it!

I don't won't and can't my creative process ten might be enough time on some days others it could take hours and if they feel the need to test me I wouldn't be there. Of course my music is basic beginner crap so that would also preclude my involvement! HAHAHAHAHA

I would put all the males in studio a , and all the females in studio b , then I would lock the doors and go home.

Ten min drill is a common practice method for music producers to keep their skills sharp. Maschine Tutorials has the sample workout or 10 min drill where you have a flip a sample or something within a certain period of time. All producers or maschinists who are serious about music should do it.

I think you are getting confused here, that's the length of time it takes to roll up a fat one and do a few lines...

This is so true! When I was young, the "Frankfurt Techno Sound" has just been invented, and... surprise... it actually sounded good! With bands like MOSKWA TV, AXODRY, TWO OF CHINA, OFF, and the like. This had nothing to do with the four-on-the-floor boringness that techno turned into later.

"Common practice"? Certainly not something I've come across other than a few "gimmick" videos and most of them end up with a track that sounds like arse (basically a track that sounds like it's been made in around 10 minutes).

Personally I can't see anything of any worth coming out of a session of any less time than a few hours (I would take 20 miniutes at least just to sound design a single synth preset).

Ah Skins it does sound like a worthy practice I will even give a shoot once in awhile, thankfully I am just a home back so even if it sounds like crap my income won't come crashing down, good thing! I can say if it is a common practice to get work Inwould be on he streets by now!

Just watch to the first ten minutes of this video from grammy winner engineer ken lewis and about this drill

Don't know what genre you produce. A lot of hip hop producers do this drill or something similar.
