I have a 2015 MBP. 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 16 gig ram. In ableton with a single instance of maschine VST and 5 midi tracks running to the single instance I am looping 8 bars and trying to build up a groove. CPU starts spiking after 10-20 seconds and glitching out. This is with Deep Matter Alexanderplaz extension. I can normally run close to 100 tracks in ableton with all sorts of different plugins without issue. I even tried turning off the grain delay fx in maschine but still getting the issue. running at 1024 samples.

    OS is 10.13.6 Ableton 10.1

    Hey,
sorry to hear you are experiencing problems. This is surely not normal, all though "Alexanderplatz" is a quite heavy project. I just tried on a similarly spec'd Mac and its running fine for me. In order to narrow down the issue, we would need more details and information - since it's very hard to debug a problem as long as we can not reproduce it.

    Here are some initial thoughts:
    * Have you tried bypassing FX not only on Sound but also on Group level? Does that change anything?
    * Can you confirm that your Mac is not doing any heavy lifting in the background? (i.e. Spotlight indexing or Backups)
    * Is there any difference compared to running the project in the Maschine application as standalone?
    * Do you get the same spikes in the same Live session when you load a different project in Maschine?

From what I can tell, this seems to be a rather isolated issue and not a general problem with Maschine itself. CPU usage is always highly dependent on the content that is being used. Some Kontakt Libraries or Delay and Reverb FX as well as timestreching in Audio Modules can put quite some load on the CPU.

If you want us to further investigate, please try to provide some more details for us to reproduce to problem.

Thank you so much for the reply. I'm starting to think that I may be having an overheating issue on my computer itself. It's pretty crazy, but I am literally getting a new computer today....it's like it knows!

Haha :D Ok, a jealous computer... I hope that everything runs nicely on the new one. If not, please follow up.
    All the best!
