This morning I got Reaktor Session for use on a Mac 12" Powerbook 867, 640meg ram, on OS X. Oh dear. When N.I. advertised that it was now OS X compatible I naively assumed that they meant 'real' OS X, not carbonized OS9 within OS X. So I need it to run under 'real' OS X because my host application (Cubase SL) runs under 'real' OS X. With me? Trying to run Session under OS X is like trying to wallpaper the hall through the letterbox. It makes Cubase crash, drop down menus stick, clicking on some icons does nothing but makes a patch of OS X graphic appear (...nice feature!). In short running under 'real' OS X it's like freeware coded by a dyslexic monkey (apologies to all the fantastic freeware authors out there).

Am I the only one? Advertising this as being OS X compatible is absolutely disgusting. And how are N.I. going to repay me for my wasted time, currently running at 9 hours?

Like I say, I'd love to hear from anyone who's had similar experiences.

    Many thanks,

    Dave Killingback.

My guess from experience is that, eventually, the moderator will surface, blast you for daring to complain, and then claim that NI software functions perfectly.

Then they will release at least five new products that will never be updated past version 1.03.

Yup - try Win 98se, cubase R5.1 and a delta 1010, utterly unuseable, the worst implementation of any software I have ever purchased. I have never seen more blue screens, and exception errors in my life - still I have a £180 beer mat with no support what so every - discusting.

They've been buying ads like crazy here in the States in Keyboard an Electronic Musician, so expect a "Key Buy" award and a 5/5 rating when the reviews hit the pages.

    It's a management issue..plain and simple.

Issue a public development roadmap and stick to it..

    Next Session release june 15th
    Next Reaktor release June 30th
    Next Session release July 15th

Release whatever is done on the promised date...

Change the motto from " it'll be ready when it's done" to " a version will ship on the 15th get it right"

It's going to be great, really great stuff when it's ready, and I applaude the developers and everyone involved for such a slick and innovative set of tools, but management needs to drive this thing professionally or it will just fade away into disrepute...

    Reaktor Session on OS X

When it works it sounds great. But it NEVER works for more than 4 or 5 minutes before crashing and taking Cubase SL out with it, whether as a VST or standalone. Therefore the instability issues seem to me to be with RS rather than Cubase, as N.I. in Berlin told me on the phone yesterday.

Also, I still have not had my registration code so I cannot register it, and I need to register it in order to get the v.1.0.1 update.

    Grrrrrrrr....

    Cheers,
    Dave Killingback.

I run mine using VST-AU wrapper and it's very stable..never crashed once on 1.01. However, there is a wierd and very annoying bug in that the mouse is one inch above the thing you need to click...you get used to it!!...

I figured due to the bad press everyone was giving NI, and being a first time NI customer, I could either send it back or use it via the wrapper...since I do think it's great I chose to used it wrapped...seems like they should get in touch with fxpansion and get him to do a custom wrapper for them...keeps everyone happy...

"My guess from experience is that, eventually, the moderator will surface".

One would think so, but before that happens, someone from NI would have to actually read these forums. Not sure that actually happens.

Maybe we've all been spoiled by Propellerheads.

Sounds like the package was developed on a PC platform - it seems to run fine as a Dxi2 plug in on XP, despite chewing up a lot of CPU. I guess it takes the first major crash when doing something important to tick you off...my main gripe is that it doesn't save 'snapshots' automatically when exiting like other DXi plug-ins I've used, without dedicating a preset to it...but that's pretty minor compared with what you guys are seeing.

    osx problems

i too have had multiple problems. it crashes always. i cannot get the audio to play on a ton of instruments without the sound cutting out. this program is a joke. i have used reason and live without any problems for months. contacted support who emailed me back twice with absolutely inane suggestions. after i resonded to the second email, i never heard from him again. i guess they know this program sucks and are hiding out in denmark hoping no one notices. i plan to sell this hunk of crap asap on ebay.

Does Reaktor 4 works better ?

I also have stability and bugs in Reaktor Session for MacOSX. But does Reaktor 4 works better on OSX ?

If it does it maybe it's worth upgrading ?
