In the notes for the 2.3 update they list: "new "Focus" entry has been added which allows MIDI input only when the sound is focused"

Can somebody with the 2.3 update explain what this is?

The update I'm hoping for is one where you can select a group, and then play each pad using an external midi controller like an octapad. Currently this simple thing is not possible. If you have Maschine set up so that selecting a group routes the midi to that group, it also routes all the midi to the selected pad - so to have more than one drum sound in that group means loading Battery into that sound slot or some other work around. This behaviour is related to the two midi modes, and I'm wondering if the 2.3 update changes the way those midi modes work.

in 2.2 any input set to NONE, (ie not selected to be some hard port/channel combination) would be active to midi input.. in this case you could have multiple pads responding (or worse, recording) to midi input by mistake.

So the change actually was to make the midi input of NONE to actually BE none, as in "will not respond to any midi input".. (and if anyone wants to throw rocks, I lobbied hard for this change)

Now, the option of focus, allows you to only play the current selected pad...

    so you have ..
    1. NONE = truly NONE, will not respond no matter how hard you bang anything..
    2. MIDI PORT = Will respond to the matching midi port and channel selected
    3. Focus = The active pad.
