    Hi,
Now that the new audio features in 2.7 have been announced, wanna share a track I've been working on with a mate, that I wanted to make as a challenge during the beta testing of the audio module, beginning to end in Maschine (still WIP, not final mix etc), with vocals.

All recordings were made using the audio interface of Mk3 (vocals, and the 2 external synths), vocals arranged using the new audio module, full arrangement in Maschine.
Just wanted to share to show the potential.

So the audio module carries wav files, but for now they are restricted to patterns, is that the way it works?

I've been checking the forum to see if there were any Maschine updates that would justify any more purchases from NI (. This looks like it might be enough for now! Hopefully 3.0 will be stellar also ("song layer" or whatever etc.).

The complexity and challenge of putting all this together with the different hardware and features then making sure everything "works" into the future might be part of what's been taking so long. Maybe their new "agile" development approach will help resolve some of this and relieve some of their fear of commitment anxiety.

...very cool to share this. I think, it's a good idea to show and talk about, how the things are done "the Maschine way".

    Hi Muitosabao,
one question, how do you record the vocals?
    I ask ,because NI says:
"So at the initial release in December recording directly into the Audio module is not possible, this is currently being worked on, and will come soon after."
So I think this means that recording audio is still only possible in "sampling mode" in V 2.7.
    right?

    Thanks guys.

Yes, this was recorded using the sampler. Then sliced the parts I wanted, and exported the sample and reimported into the audio module. Yes, cumbersome for now, but then again this was an exercise to explore the potential. When they implement recording directly to audio module, it will all be much easier.

Nice Track and looks promising even if i will not use it that much but of course for others a long awaited feature - but the gate mode ni mentioned could be fun to play with

Great track muitosabao. It does not scream made entirely in Maschine, and that’s the whole point right? It should just be an incredible sounding track and the listener should be lost in the music itself. This is definitely a great precursor of beautiful things ahead and I can’t wait to see how creative people will get with the audio feature.

I don’t know why I feel this is making Maschine more difficult or more complicated ? Maybe am not getting the function clearly on what it suppose to do until I try it ..Considering I can see now the wave file , how does it add to the workflow ? Can I chose part of it and chop, cut mangle like you do in a daw or what exactly ?Or are the clips now the arranger view and the wave files are like the session view of Abelton ?

    nice sounding song.
i've done a few pieces where i'd done vocals in Maschine by recording into the sampler. so tedious to do it that way!

In this scenario, what's the benefit of the audio module? Why not just use the sampler?

Because you can change the sample tempo and the pitch, all in sync with the project bpm.

Is this really something to want when you create a song like this? I would imagine changing the tempo and pitch are more useful in other genres, and mostly when you use samples, as opposed to creating a song with analog synths and vocals.

muitosabao : did you use this functionality?

There is no set type of song where you would not need to change tempo. This is commonly done in all music. In addition to auto stretching to tempo, this allows you to use audio in Maschine without needing a midi event to trigger the audio. You can transport to any point and when you hit play the audio will playback instead of silence because you did not start from before any midi trigger.

No I did not (singer sang on tempo).
But one of the advantages on my scenario was to be able to play the audio parts (using the new gate mode) from any part of the sample, and not from just the beginning (as we can only do, when using the old sample module).
Of course for now the uses are pretty limited, and this was just an exercise.
But when further functionality is implemented (moving the audio on the pattern, record directly to audio module etc), the usage will increase.
