Am seriously struggling trying to make good use of the last couple of updates. Shouldn’t it be more intuitive ? It’s all what is is but not what it’s supposed to be sort of status ...

Yes. Sound lanes in patterns are zoomed vertically to double size.

I think you're missing the point, it's not a bit faster, it's instantaneous. Imagine you have 30 Audio Loops and decide to change the BPM... it would take a lot of time. If one wants to try out 100 loops to see which fits a project you can instantly hear them and quickly transpose without wasting a LOT of time to adjust each one. For me, this is very useful for remixing. Of course, some people will have no need for this feature, no one uses all the features of a software/hardware. I, for example, dont care one bit about Step sequencing but lots of people love it especially the House/Techno/EDM crowd.

Then there is the bigger picture which to me is the most important fact of all: While these Audio features are still a basic implementation a new door has been open and NI seems to have changed it's development strategy a little bit, until now significant updates followed this "bake it until it's amazing" pattern, the major feature requests have been baking for a year, slowly... and now it's seems they are not scared of releasing something simple and keep maintaining and adding on it, i like that a lot better than waiting 2 years for a feature. Then again I could be wrong...

Serato sample has key detection and something else... real-time time stretch of sample slices, the ladder is pretty amazing. (I wish NI had implemented stretch in the regular sampler this way instead of a separate audio plugin module)

I'm not missing any point...if I had 30 audio loops like you mention I would take them into Ableton ..My Gripe is basically not being able to audition loops at the project tempo before bringing them in like you can do in Ableton...maybe i missed the part where this was not mentioned but I thought that was what we was getting in the update

ah, auditioning in tempo, sorry if that's what you wanted and expected, still the drag n drop is pretty instant so not all bad

Not everyone is or wants to use Ableton, some of us need audio in standalone, so for us its a big deal we finally can.

Browsing at project BPM would be cool but i don't see whats the big deal, i just load the loops and it plays back, then load the next, and so on, loops take literally less than a second to load and play, it's as instantaneous as AL's browser (and Maschine's browser is 100 times better than AL's overall imho)

Happy to se the new update is out.

Trying to figure out what the audio feature will bring to me. I don't use loops, at all.
What I do though is to make my self some kind of loop or rythm and then in my daw render this to audio and move it tiny bits in the arranger to achieve a certain groove. I was hoping i could do this kind of work within maschine now.. but..

I got excited when i saw that it's possible to click the "render to audio"-button in the right corner of the pattern editor and then load that loop into the audio plugin. But as I understand it the audio/loop is just playing from the exact beginning of a pattern. It's not possible to nudge or move it in the time line.

Do you guys think this will be an upcoming feature or is this just meant to be used to tune and stretch loops to sync with your projects?
The stretching sounds really good and is impressing, but too sad it won't be something I'm gonna use much it it's not possible to experiment with the "timing" relative to the other stuff you have in the project, mainly the kick.

    Cheers

You can always get the loop in time, pitch and do all your adjustments then resample it to the regular sampler and chop it, nudge etc...
Yeah, I expect a lot more features soon. (Hopefully I am right to assume that)

    Thanks for fast reply D-One,

Gonna try out what you explained a little bit more. However, my feature wish will be to be able to drag the audio within the pattern and also cut/copy/paste/join parts of it :)

    :cool::thumbsup:

Played with it last night and it was fun. Nice new feature. Now they need to concentrate on shrinking the memory footprint on their virtual instruments. Some komplete sounds can kill a Mac..no matter how built up it is.

Not having tried it yet, only reading about it, I have to question why this functionality couldn't have just been incorporated into the existing sampler.

Now you have yet another mental obstacle to jump through. "Am I using a loop? Oh, I can't just trigger that with a sampler like everything else"

Sort of like the ideas view/scenes overlay. If the whole design were just made linear already, it would be much more simpler and intuitive.

It's a bit of a conundrum, because that would bring it closer to being a DAW, which is kind of a four letter word in Maschine speak (i.e. doesn't fit the paradigm/ workflow/ DNA of Maschine). The developers are doing what they can to provide requested features while retaining the Maschine way of working, but it's forcing them to do things in ways that are counter-intuitive to DAW users at first. That's my take on it at least.

Obviously, their ace up their sleeve is the possibility to tightly integrate new features with the hardware controller, so it eventually becomes muscle memory. But, yeah, seems like there's been a fair bit of frustration and waiting since the gap between 1.8 and 2.0 came into play where certain features were broken/lost, and now are getting put back into the mix (speaking about the midi routing issue here).

There seems to be two main camps of thought...
    a) Maschine can never be a linear based DAW due its reliance on the Sound-Group / Pattern-Scene paradigm.
    b) Maschine should just follow Ableton Live more closely. If they can have patterns (i.e. Session) and an Arranger view, why can't Maschine?

I find odd that no one else complained about how strange to 2X zoom looks with regular MIDI notes.
Big lanes with small events inside look super awkward to me, maybe im just too OCD...

Maybe, to me it looks like an ugly oversight, I'm nitpicking on a detail though.
Gotta have that fat bass bro! :D
