    Hi everyone,

I'm a primary school music teacher working in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

My students and myself wish to participate to NI's 25th anniversary contest to have a shot at the fabulous prizes and thus have a fun, stimulating concrete creation goal.

    We have a few questions:

Do we have permission to do covers in the contest's legal context?

Is it possible to participate as an institution (several accounts, one email) or will every sub groups of students will have to create a meta profile?

I'd like to know what do you think of a primary school participating in a contest like this. I guess having submissions by pros, semi-pros, schools etc could be interesting to NI, but if everybody comes back at me saying "This thing is for pros. 0% chance of success here", we might find ourselves something else to do.

Thanks and have a great day,

    Jf

As far as I know it's one song per account, so everyone has to have an individual mail adress. And this contest is for everyone as far as I understand it, i will also participate as a hobbyist and there are for sure also some pros out there also participating. I would guess covers are not allowed cause you don't have the rights of the song or parts of it.
Maybe someone from native reads it and can answer all you questions, so you know for sure. I guess you've already saw and read the rules but that didn't answer your questions!?

    Hi,
    Thanks for your input!
Yeah I read the rules, but I'd like to verify my understanding.
For instance, In the legal context where I function, Kids in schools can perform anything without restrictions as long as its not for profit. I don't know if this is relevant or not, but I'd be bummed if I discoverd in two weeks from now that we could have chose to work on covers and did not.
