I tried to install it on Win Xp and the vst version wasn't installed...

I'm gonna install from the CD again...

On the clean install and using the 3.06 update it works.

One thing missing on the install app is the possibility of re-install some components. If it's installed before you can't make any adjust. You can just uninstall...

Getting a Failure warning trying to install on vanilla install of Battery under OSX 10.5.8

    "Failure

Cannot proceed with this update, because the application cannot be found in the stored installation directory"

It is in the vanilla installation location (Battery 3 folder under Applications)

Updating to 3.06 from 3.04 under 10.5.8, got the same error that others are having "Cannot proceed with this update, because the application cannot be found in the stored installation directory" so I decided to investigage.

Cloned my main boot drive, testing on the cloned drive shows: uninstalling and reinstalling (I use Komplete so I had to start over with the Komplete installer) and I no longer got the error, AU & VST versions were 3.06 but the Battery3.app under Applications is still 3.04 so I searched using Spotlight and noticed that it installed into my DOCUMENTS folder (Battery3.app in that folder showed 3.06 in the About box!)

So the 3.06 updater seems to be both looking for Battery3 in your documents folder (rather than applications) and if you redo the install it installs to that folder. To verify I went into the 3.06 installer via "Show package contents", ran Battery 3 Application Update.pkg manually and noticed that it installs into my DOCUMENTS folder (Battery3.app in that folder showed 3.06 in the About box!)

Bad pathing issues, I would wonder if hte same thing is going on with Windows installs (haven't tried it there yet.)

Yes i have xp pro & having problems , I tried to update 3.0.6 and it unistalled 3.0.4
then nothing. so i go to the the new DL install file for 3.0.6 and it said no previous versions of battery installed please run orig file (something to that nature)
so i read to just put a old version .dll file in the battery folder to trick it to install.
everythign went great except now when producing it would crash swapping cells or closing out of live 8.0.5 i even tried to delete the track that battery was on and it crashed with the same saying for all the above probelms Microsoft Visual C++ runtime error. this is my 3rd day messing with it and i did a fresh install of the whole Komplet 5 updated all vst to current except to battery i only went to 3.0.4.
it's stable but now i'm not able to open my set i was working on!
So i load all the tracks except the one battery was on after importing the Midi files i went o load the kit i saved while working on the song and wasn't able to open cause it was created on a newer version of battery...

    Talk about fawking aggrivating!

    +1

I ended up reinstalling from my CD (which I had to dig out of my closet) and all was ok. Something is goofy with this update installer.

For everybody on Windows who experience problems during installation here is what helped me to:
    http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showpost.php?p=580423&postcount=28

I forgot one step: i also used "Tuneup Utilities" after CCleaner for further registry cleaning. On my Laptop i had no chance installing Battery 3.0.6 when i only used CCleaner´s Registry cleaner, so i guess you need at least two Reg cleaners to get rid of all entries.

If so, I wont update, this is ridiculous. I don't want to use some cleaners, not sure how they work.

I think I try the clean install using original DVD, if no success, then bye 3.0.6

On the Mac it's a problem with the file /Library/Preferences/com.native-instruments.Battery 3.plist

Open it in Property List Editor.

    Edit the field 'Installdir'

Change it from the location of your audio library (WRONG!) to the location of (unsurprisingly) where Battery is installed. i.e.

    Macintosh HD:Applications:Battery 3:

Save the file, try the upgrade again.

this worked for me, with the difference that i had to edit the "ContentDir" key, due to the path being wrong there. also note: this is the .plist in the root library, not the user one (skinfitz has shown that properly, but there is also a .plist in the user lib. just clarifying to avoid confusion).

thanks for the tip skinfitz! finally got the 3.0.6 update installed. grrr.

    ---

update: i did find a bunch of wrong paths in the user .plist as well (13 of them!). i just corrected those, even tho i wasn't having problems (that i knew of).

but just fixing the root .plist did allow the 3.0.6 update to work for me.

thanks again skinfitz... you saved me a reinstall. :D

It will update, but you have to uninstall and re-install from the original DVD. I think this is basically a simple way to insure copy protection. It's was a little uneasy to do this because I wasn't sure if all my tweaks and samples would be left intact. I copied my total library to a new location then did the install with out installing the dvd factory library again. I pointed to the new location after installing and everything was perfectly intact.
